Britax Marathon

Here are some snapshots of my children in the Britax Marathon. The Marathon is a convertible car seat that harnesses a child until 65 pounds or until they outgrow the seat by height(which ever comes first). The Marathon can be used until 33 pounds in the rear-facing position.

Ian in the Marathon & Roundabout

Ian is 21 months old, 26-27 pounds and approximently 35 inches tall. He is pictured using the Marathon on the right and the Roundabout on the left. He would use the second set of harness slots in both seats. In the Roundabout, his head is close to the top of the seat shell. In the Marathon he has LOTS of room to grow and could rear face in it for quite some time!

I also wanted to point out that he appears to have MORE shoulder space in the Roundabout then he does in the Marathon. I think the padding on the Marathon is thicker in the shoulder area. I believe he has equal shoulder room in the Marathon and the Roundabout. I think he would fit in the Marathon until he was 5 or 6 years old.

Janae in the Marathon

Janae is 4 years old. She weighs 28 1/2 pounds and is 37.5 inches tall. She is also using the middle slots in this seat. She has LOTS of room to grow in this seat. She could use this seat in both the rear and forward facing positions. For rear facing, she has pleanty of room above her head and she weighs less then 33 pounds. She is pictured rear-facing and seated in it like she would be forward facing in a vehicle.

*Please Note* Janae's chest clip is positioned too high in these pictures. The chest clip should be positioned at arm pit level.

Kyler in The Marathon

Kyler is 7 years old. He weighs 50 pounds and is 48-49 inches tall. He is almost too big for this seat. His shoulders are just at the top slots in this seat. I also think he looks cramped in this seat. His shoulders look crowded. He is at the upper end height limit for this seat too. The instructions state it can be used until a child is 48 or 49 inches tall. At 7 years old he still fits in this seat. I don't think he would be comfortable for long in it, but he does fit in it.
