I originally brought home some Zebra Danios to cycle my tank after losing other species of fish. Supposedly these guys are darned hardy and often make it through people's cycles. 2 out of 4 died unfortunately, so I went back a few days later to pick up 4 more. I ended up getting the long-finned variety. This was probably a bit much for my tank to handle, but they all made it through. :-)

Zebra Danios are extremely fast, active fish, and are often within the top 1/3 of my tank. However, they do swim throughout the entire thing when they feel like it. They are curious fish and mine always investigate new additions, and come up to check for food whenever someone nears the tank. Mine also enjoy swimming through the plants and seem to get a huge kick out of reinforcing the pecking order within their school. They are constantly nipping at and chasing each other. However, they don't hurt each other, it's just how they behave within a school.

I feed these guys flake food which they love and attack with gusto, and also freeze dried bloodworms for a treat. They love those too, and always fight over them!
