SPECIAL
MESSAGE Romano Byzantine Metropolitanate
Syro-Russian
Orthodox Catholic Church
Duluth
Minnesota To:
Clergy,
Commission
Practitioners, Synodal
Liaisons and Officials Dear
Brothers and Sisters in Christ! The
Metropolitanate joins the millions of others who today cry over the devastation
and loss of human lives that was experienced this morning here in the United
States. Such acts are detested before the throne of Almighty God. We join with
many others in praying for the souls of the departed and for their families and
our whole nations that mourn their loss. At
8:45am a hijacked plane crashed into the World Trade Center in New York killing
the passengers and many who were inside the building. At 9:03am another hijacked
airliner crashed into the second World Trade Center killing many more people. At
11:26 am another plane crashed in Pennsylvania, and at 11:59am another (Flight
175) crashes from Boston to Los Angeles. The media reports that over 10,000
people may have been killed in this heinous and barbaric tragedy and act against
God. This attack against the American Nation and her people has now rippled
throughout our country and many others. We
ask that all who receive this message take time today to pray for all those who
have died, for all those who suffer, and for the Peace of God to triumph
throughout this world of ours. All clergy are asked to remember those who died
today in their Sunday Liturgies, and all practitioners licensed through our
Synod are also asked to pray with those they serve. Let us all pray for an end
to wars and killings and a return to God. Let us never accept or condone
anything in this life that takes away the life or the freedom of the peoples of
God. Almighty
God, Creator and Lover of all that is here in this world, hear our prayer for
those who have died this day and those who mourn their passing. Receive them
into your kingdom and grant them forgiveness of their offenses and grant them
eternal peace. Lord, bring to this world peace and a return to you and your
love. This we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen. Faithfully in Christ, Archbishop Stephen and Staff of the Chancery and Synod |
