Wythy Amateurs 18-1 Lymm Rovers.   16 September 2001

Back at Brookway with the pitch in superb condition, although down to a squad of 12, due to holidays and illness. Joe started in goal and we were back to our more familiar formation. 3:5:2, with Byron in the centre. Chris Canning started the scoring against a Lymm team playing their 1st game of the season. It would be impossible to describe every goal, but a few that stood out were Macca's chip over the keeper and his second half header. Chris Canning seemingly dribbling around the goal post, Danny Clare's volley and a superb goal late on from Karl. Half time 5-0. Later, Liam replaced Joe in goal and Mark Aspinall, who was making his full debut, scored. Joe came on to play outfield and very nearly scored, but was denied by a brave save. Mike Prestage was having an impressive game at the back, winning some superb tackles and great distribution down the line and into the box. A misunderstanding at the back resulted in Byron running the ball into his own Goal (Sorry Baz, Liam) Goalscorers, Chris C 8, Macca 4, Danny, Karl, Rhien, Mark and two own goals. Noticeable performances Chris, Macca and Man of the Match Mike Prestage

Unicorn 3-1 Wythy Amateurs.   9 September 2001

Well we're back, newly promoted to the A division with our first game away to Champions Unicorn. With Jamie (capt) away in the sun, we adapted to a 4,4,2 formation. The pitch was very small and had just been cut,so when we cleared the piles of cuttings, we kicked off. WoW after 20 seconds were were 1-0 up. Thanks to a glancing header from who else, Chris Canning after good work from down the right. Were were giving as good as we got, but failure to clear our lines and a lucky rebound, Unicorn equalised. 10 minutes later, a good move down their left set up their 2nd goal. 2-1 at half time. The second half was a scary but close affair with their keeper saving bravely at Chris Cannings feet, with five minutes to go we pushed Barnsey up in an attempt to grab an equaliser with Rhien going close. Unicorn broke but were denied a goal by an outstanding save from Liam. They broke again and scored with the last kick of the ball. To sum up, it was not a great performance by us, but we gave them a tough game. Noteable performances Liam Pentland, Chris Canning and Man of the Match, Rhien Fallon.
