Secondary State Highway 22A

SSH 22A was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 22 (now SR 25) at Northport and headed northeasterly along the east side of the Columbia River to the Canadian border near the community of Boundary. When British Columbia added the roadway extending southerly from the Trail area along the east side of the Columbia to the border to the provincial highway system, the route was designated BC 22A, a designation that it still has today.

When the current state highway numbering system was first posted in January 1964, SSH 22A became SR 251.
