Secondary State Highway 5D

SSH 5D was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 5 (then US 410, now SR-167) in Puyallup and headed north past the east side of Milton, then northwesterly, ending at Jct PSH 1 (US 99) at Kits Corner (now a part of Federal Way). When I-5 opened from Fife to Midway in October 1962, US 99 was shifted from Pacific Highway S in Federal Way to the I-5 freeway. The northern terminus of PSH 5D was moved to I-5 Exit 142. Today, PSH 5D is part of SR-161.
