SSH 3B was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 8 (US 97) in Toppenish and headed west to White Swan. In 1957, this route was extended west to Fort Simcoe State Park. In January 1964, SSH 3B was resigned as SR 220.
