" Yes? What ya want?" Jennibear asked curiously. He pulled her aside.
"Uh, I was kinda wondering. Nick likes Kris, maybe we could skip out on them and let them, you know, get to know each other. We'll tell them we changed our minds and we wanna go somewhere else. Then they could get to know each other." He said sheepishly.
" Where would we go?" Jennibear asked.
"Um, wanna go check out the club scene in this town?" AJ said.
"I guess. Are you sure he likes her? I mean, I don't wanna leave her if he is gonna ignore her the whole time." She said reluctantly.
"I'm positive. You saw how he's looked at her today. He thinks she's hot. I can tell." AJ said.
"Well, if you say so. I guess we can sneak off." J-bear said. They went back to where Nick and Kris were.
"Kris, can I talk to you?" Nick said.
"Sure." She replied. They went under the shelter.
"Hey. Um, I was kinda wondering. AJ likes J-bear. Maybe we could skip out on them and you know, let them get to know each other. We'll tell them we changed our minds and we wanna go somewhere else. Then they could get to know each other." He said.
"Uh, where would we go?" Kris asked him.
"Uh, I dunno. Wherever you wanna go. We could go get a nice supper at Shea Josephine's, the little French restaurant right outside of town. Then we could go to the go-cart place and have some fun. Or, if you're not down with that, we could go to the park and get to know each other. Anything you want." Nick said quietly.
"Uh, are you sure AJ likes Jennibear. I mean, I don't wanna leave her with him if he's gonna ignore her the whole time."
"I'm positive. Did you see the way he looked at her today? He thinks she's hot. I can tell." Nick said sheepishly.
"Well, if you say so. I guess we can skip out." Kris said.
"Sounds great to me. Let's just be spontaneous about it. We'll just end up wherever the wind blows us tonight. I always wanted to do that." Nick said excitedly. They got back to where the other two were.
"So, are we gonna go get some showers or not?" Nick said.
"Uh, we kinda decided we wanna go off somewhere. I think that maybe we'll go far away. Uh, maybe we'll go to Orlando. Or maybe we'll go to Tampa. Uh, so y'all should just go off somewhere." AJ said.
" Well, why are y'all all the sudden changing y'all's minds?" Nick said.
"Uh, my aunt is sick. I forgot. She's really sick ya know? She lives in um, in um, Palatka. We might go see her. Uh, Her name is Aunt Jane. Uh, she has um, cancer, yeah. She is in the bed. Sick. Oh, she's reaaalll sick. I gotta go see my poor sick aunt before she croaks, I mean dies." Jennibear said.
"Oh, Jennibear. Is she okay? I didn't know you had an aunt named Jane. You want me to go with you to see her?" Kris asked.
"NO! It's okay. I mean, she's probably dead anyway. I mean, she'll be okay. Whatever, I'm all tongue-tied today. She's gonna be okay I think. Besides, AJ is going with me. He um, wants to meet my aunt. Right AJ?" J-bear said. AJ was cracking up.
"RIGHT AJ?" She said elbowing him in the arm.
"Oh, yeah. Uh, sure. Your Aunt Joan right?"
"Yeah Aunt Joan. She's rrreeeeaaalll sick ya know?" J-bear said.
"I thought her name was Jane. Are you sure you have a sick Aunt? I mean, sure?" Nick said, trying not to laugh.
" Uh, her name is Jane Joan, um, Roper. Her name is Jane Joan Roper. Her mom liked Jane; her dad liked Joan, so they named her Jane Joan Roper. We just call her Aunt J." Jennibear lied.
"Well, we had better get going Jennibear. It's um, ya know, two hours to drive to Palatka. So we gotta go." AJ said.
"So what are y'all gonna do?" Jennibear said.
"Um, well me and Kris, we're gonna go visit my mom. She's in town tonight cause Aaron is doing a show. So, we'd better get going. Um, she wants me to bring my girlfriend, I mean friend with me and I thought why not bring her? So we're gonna go to meet her at a little restaurant in some town. I don't know what town. I don't know what restaurant. I just don't know. So, wherever we are going, we gotta hurry cause," checking his watch, "We're late. Wherever we're going to, we're late." Nick said.
"Well, look, we may be a little late tonight, so if y'all get home, don't wait up." AJ said.
"Oh, same thing here. We may be late, too." Nick said.
"But y'all are just gonna eat with your mom, what's so late about that?" AJ said.
"Um, well, who knows, it's could be an all-night restaurant. My mom may be hungry. Maybe she's real hungry. Maybe she will want to eat the all night buffet or something. I mean, she could be so hungry, we might be stuck there all night. And I wanna be prepared." Nick said. Nick grabbed Kris's hand and led her away. They went to Kris's condo to get showers. Kris tried to clear all the crazy thoughts that were running through her head. I hope AJ and Jennibear are really getting to know each other right now. Cause, I think they make a cute couple.
