In the spring of 1998, the WHS Drama Club elected its officers for the following school year. Some time after this, co-president Joseph Holmes and I were talking about what he wanted to do for the club. He said that he would like to bring the DC into the twenty-first century by creating a website. (At that time I did not have access to the web, and knew nothing about it.) Neither of us looked at this as a serious possibility, and it remained a dream in his mind. That summer (1998) I gained access to the web and was amazed at how it worked. I wanted to learn the "language" that was used to create web sites, and began to look at the "source" of all the sites I visited. I figured the only way to learn was by actually creating a site. I soon remembered what Joe's idea for a Drama Club site, and began writing some pages. After a while, the idea occured that this could become a real web site....and so this site was born! This was presented to the drama club and its director, Ron Chibaro, on his birthday on October 1st, 1998. |
