Newcastle United

Toon Army

Welcome to my new Newcastle United page. There have been quite a few changes at the club since the last page including the manager and hopefully the board will sort things out. The players have all changed as usual but Alan is still here and maybe even showing some decent form once again, I just hope that the goals start coming again. But of course that will depend on the supply which has'nt been there for quite some time but maybe Ruud will change this in the coming months!

The Players

Alan Shearer

What else can you say about this player, than brilliant! I just wish every Newcastle player was this dedicated to the team. An ex-world record transfer when bought from Blackburn rovers, Shearer is the top goal scorer of the Premiership.

Robert Lee

Captured from Charlton by Kevin Keegan, Lee is the current club captain, and is still fairly decent at 32 years, but unfortunately he is rather injury prone.

Duncan Ferguson

Big Dunc was signed from Everton for £7 Million, and was Guillt's first major signing as Newcastle manager. He is a good header of the ball which he should be for his height, but can also play on the ground a bit as well. The Ferguson, Shearer combination is still to hit it off as yet due to injuries to both players, but I'm sure they will when they start.

Temuri Ketsbaia

Well the first thing to say is "Does anyone know how Ketsbaia, doesn't get in the first team regularly?". He hasn't done much to help himself in the way he celebrates a goal i suppose.

Nolberto Solano

Solano hasn't had too bad a start as a Newcastle player. He's scored a couple of decent and important goals such as the one against Leeds, for our second away win of the season. He is of course the first Peruvian to play in the premiership, lets hope that he's the first to play in the FA cup final.

Dietmar Hamann

Hamann looked promising at the start of the season, but he picked up a hamstring injury after a couple of games, which has meant it has took him a little bit longer to adjust to premiership football. He is a good player though who has just not quite shown his best yet for Newcastle.

Steve Howey

Steve Howey hasn't had much luck until recently because of injuries. But since his return to the side he has even been described by Ruud Guillt as a "Brand new £4Million plus signing". The next aim for Howey could be the England squad, where before Euro 96 he showed a lot of promise as an international defender.

Didier Domi

The young left back recently signed from Paris St Germain has shown a great deal of promise in his few games for United. This is a player who Ruud Guillt feels should eventually make it into the full French national squad, which would be nice!

Shay Given

Given is the current Republic of Ireland goalkeeper. He is now the current no.1 at Newcastle and deserves to be so. He was snatched from under the noses of our nearest rivals Sunderland, Ha, Ha!

The Manager

Ruud Guillt

Guillt took control of Newcastle just two games into the 98/99 season. He was brought in after the board decided to get rid of Kenny Dalglish. His first game in charge as against Liverpool, However he didn't pick the team for the game. His first signing was Duncan Ferguson for £7million from Everton. He will need time to put things right at Newcastle though, which i hope he can do, sooner rater than later.
