Celtic 5 - 0 Dundee

Kick off 3pm Saturday April 3rd

Celtic stamped their authority on this game from the outset, they appeared hungry to win every ball and applied pressure from the first minute. Indeed Viduka nearly scored in the second minute with a mesmorising piece of skill followed by a rasping shot which drew a fine save out of Douglas. There was never any real doubt who was going to win this contest, it was simply a matter how many Celtic and Henrik Larsson would score, 5 and 2 emerged as the answers. McNamara and Riseth were for me the men of the match, Riseth had a stunning performance in defence allowing Dundee little opportunity to create anything at all. McNamara was causing Dundee all kinds of trouble around their penalty area and it was no surprise that he set up the first goal, it was even less surprising to see the dreadlocks of Larsson putting the ball in the back of the net.

Dundee are probably the poorest team in the SPL at the moment and further performances like this will save the SPL the difficulty of deciding what should happen about Dundee's unsatisfactory stadium. Burley gave Celtic their second and Viduka kept up his enviable scoring record by claiming Celtic's third.

The second half proved to be something of an anti-climax with the game already secure. Larsson was tripped in the area, the penalty was clubbed into the middle of the net by Larsson. Number five came from Regi Blinker, the fans approved in what was something of a carnival atmosphere, I think I detected a cheer when Harald Brattbakk came on !
