 Helpless

I've felt the Thunder of your tears
Tumble from your Hazel eyes
Like the Blood of Life
Pouring from His side.
Droplets of your words fall down on me
With a quiver from your lips
And, the Promise of a New Day
And, the Promise of Life.

I know you don't want my sympathy
It's not enough just to understand
I feel a rage pouring out of me
And a helplessness that I wasn't there--
Oh, I wasn't there to help you.

Now, I could never know completely
Thoughts that pass behind those eyes
But, I know, to you
They're as clear as day, and as dark as night,
No one has the right
Still, your Strength cools in showers
With the Promise of a New Day
And, the Promise of Life.

I know you don't want my sympathy
It's not enough just to understand
I feel a rage pouring out of me
And a helplessness that I wasn't there--

I know you don't want my sympathy
It's not enough just to understand
I feel a rage pouring out of me
And a helplessness that I wasn't there--
