| Hook | 2 Salmon Low Water Size 1/0 (Hook Bend Snapped off 1 and Eye of the Other). Connect hooks with braided monofilament, super glue and wrap with black thread. Then re-apply super glue on thread. Very Strong! Put lead on only the front section hook. Make the length a total of 4 inches. As in Stage 1. |
| Body | Apply a mix of black & purple marabou for tail. Attach a portion of black cactus chenille, followed by purple marabou, then cactus chenille followed black marabou, then more chenille and lastly purple marabou. Now attach strong nylon on eye of hook and while the hook is in your vice, stretch and tie nylon somewhere on your bench. Now continue by attaching black chenille at rear hook. Wind the articulated mid section onto the front hook, but keep the tying thread at the rear end. Once the chenille is at the front hook use thread as ribbing along the chenille to the front hook end. Now it’s just a matter of following the other stages. |
| Note | When building the head with thread, apply super glue to harden the thread then use smooth, flat nosed pliers to squeeze either side of the head. This will flatten the surface to mount the Fish Hawk Eyes. After applying the eyes, cover the head with a thin coat of epoxy resin. |

This
lure may be a bit of a pain in the butt to make, but it is well worth the
effort. When you feel you don’t know what’s on the Salmon or Trout’s
menu lob this in! It usually
produces violent takes. It may seem a very large fly/lure to cast but I
don’t have much of a problem using # 8 Weight Forward line with 8 lb nylon
tippet 10 or 12 feet in length. It still can difficult in the wind. Also, by
using the same build but using Colours to match the Sand Lance or Sand
EEL (also known as the Candlefish”) this fly could be very effective
for Coho and Chinook salmon. At sea, 60% of their diet is SAND EELS. This
particular Pattern creates plenty of movement in the water. Vary your
retrieve!
