HookKamasan B800 Trout Classic Lure Extra Long. Size 10
Body3mm Gold Bead Head. Attach Olive Marabou for tail. Trim to 3/4 inch in length or same length as hook. Attach red colour copper wire (Leave for later). Now attach Veniard Glister Dubbing 'GOLDEN OLIVE '. Use a good portion. Tease fibres to about 4 inches in length and twist fibres. Attach to hook and wind on to behind gold bead. Apply a few turns of thread and cut remaining fibres of dubbing. Now wind on the copper wire tightly, leaving 1/8-inch gaps to a couple of turns behind the gold bead. Now cover copper wire behind the gold bead and make neck with black thread, or red thread for the Red Neck version. Apply a drop of super glue on the thread. Use Velcro hook dubbing tool to tease out all the fibres (Make as Hairy as Possible!)
CommentsThis is a very productive pattern. During the entire fishing season I found it catches all species of fish at any time even, if no hatches of insects are occurring. Even if Sedge or Mayfly hatches are occurring this pattern is a killing pattern. Sub surface, it represents Mayfly and or Dragonfly Nymphs. Salmon will particularly take it early morning or late in the evening just as it's getting dark.

This pattern was originated and tied by Leon Guthrie of Galashiels, Scotland. You can see more of his originals at The Flies of Leon Guthrie.
