Faux Lum Plum, which has proven to be a very effective pattern on the lower Deschutes, was tied by contributing fly tyer, Scott Howell. He has also tied a tube variation of this fly, (which see). Scotty says he tied the tube variation just for kicks, and doesn't seem to be very impressed with it, but I am. It is an excellent example, to me, of how traditional flies can be converted to tube flies. It may also make this more effective as a Salmon fly. Tube flies are beginning to see more popularity in the Northwest as tiers are finding them highly effective. You can see more of Scott Howell's flies at The Flies of Scott Howell.
