The Alevin (Brayshaw)

The Alevin (Brayshaw)
Name The Alevin
Category Steelhead/Cutthroat/ Rainbows/Dolly Varden
Thread Black
Body Flat Silver Tinsel
Egg Sac Orange or Red Yarn
Wing Mallard Flank

This very simple version of the Alevin was developed by Tom Brayshaw, who noticed that large trout often feed on Alevin in early spring, and had great success with it. The original egg sac on this fly was tied with Indian crow, but is often subbed nowadays with a small tuft of yarn.
