“Affair to Remember” framed size 16”x20”. edition of 750, 1994. The “notice of land use” on the far left hints at the destruction of this drive-in for the construction of an apartment building. There are four reflections of the man in front of the bulldozer who is perhaps reminiscing about his own “affair” with youth. The monochromatic background of billboards (“The Last Picture Show” and “Gone With the Wind”) along with the ‘57 Chevy hope to focus attention of a lost bit of Americana. A more innocent time. There is a reference to Stevie Ray Vaughn in the bumper of one of the cars “Soul to Soul”. The positioning of the speakers with the snow crossing behing should appear a little like the crosses in a graveyard. The vultures are the image of death and a link to other pieces here. The house in the distance in the hole in the screen implies a happy ending to the entire scenario. All images are copyrighted.
