FRAGILE
Friendship is a fragile thing.
It's said to be as strong as steel.
But what's the truth, what's much more real,
Is that betrayal by a friend
Can bring a devastating end
To what should have been a lifelong tie.
Friendship should be closely guarded.
Held in your heart with a gentle touch,
And acknowledged that it means so much.
A friendship can withstand all strife
If it's cherished throughout life
And never let to wither or die.
Friendship must be based on truth.
Even though your words contain
A fact which telling causes pain,
More hurtful and more sad to see
Than any act of an enemy
Is friendship based upon a lie.
Friendship is a fragile thing.
