JUST THE GIRLS
Watchtower 007/8 2CD [T-528]
Waldbuhne (West Berlin, West Germany); June 13, 1984
Tracklist: Highway 61 Revisited, Jokerman, All Along The
Watchtower, Just Like A Woman, Maggie's Farm, I And I, License To
Kill, Tangled Up In Blue, Just My Imagination [Greg Sutton], It's
Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), It's All Over Now Baby Blue,
Masters Of War, Ballad Of A Thin Man, Man Of Peace, Every Grain Of
Sand, Like A Rolling Stone, Don't Think Twice, Girl From The North
Country, Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll; Tombstone Blues, Blowin' In The Wind [w/Carlos Santana]
DEEP: Similar to other documents of the '84 tour: decent
enough quality though not exceptional. It's clear and distinct
vocally and instrumentally but a bit thin and tinny, though this
can be fleshed out with a bit of the eq. A nice performance, but
the '84 shows are all very similar so what's the point, methinks.
You may consider picking this one up if you don't own any other '84
tour disks. You won't be disappointed. But, unforgivably,
Watchtower dropped "It Ain't Me Babe" and left a Greg
Sutton vocal in. Generic cover design.
CDG: An average quality audience recording. The show is
nice, but does not stand out from 1984's run of very similar
concerts.
NOTE: A complete recording of the concert may be found on the LP transfer The Jokerman Plays Berlin.
