AARON'S MUSIC LINKS 'n' STUFF
So, this is going to be my music page with links to all of my favorite bands and a little explanation of why I like each one of them...but first I have to figure out who my favorite bands are...
- The Beatles-In my opinion The Beatles are the greatest band ever to walk the face of the Earth. They were such a great combination of talents, particularly the songwriting combination of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, that they stood out from every other band of their era. Despite the encumbrance of Ringo (sorry Ringo, you know we all love you despite your shortcomings) This band produced both my favorite song (Here, There and Everywhere) and my favorite album (The White Album). They'll always be my favorites, no matter what modern bands I become infatuated with.
- Soundgarden-Soundgarden is my second-favorite band, mainly because of Chris Cornell's singing and songwriting. He has a great vocal range and his song lyrics are just too cool. This band produced my second favorite song (Searching With My Good Eye Closed) and my second favorite album (Badmotorfinger). I would like to take this opportunity to say that I was very sad when Soundgarden broke up, but that I look forward to any projects that Chris Cornell comes out with in the future, I hate that both of my favorite bands are no more.
- Nerf Herder-I can't really say that these guys are one of my favorite bands yet because I just got their cd a few weeks ago, but I love their style. Their songs seem so innocently poppy until you listen to the lyrics, then you can't but laugh (Sorry, Nosering Girl and I Only Eat Candy are by far the best songs on the album, check 'em out)
- They Might Be Giants-TMBG have a different style that is just as amusing and most of the time more meaningful than that of Nerf Herder. The lyrics are like a weird mix of poetry and insane rambling and the tunes are so catchy that sometimes you want to beat your head against a wall to get them out. Both of those are good reasons for why I listen to them and I think they're enough, so there.
- No Doubt-Love 'em. Love Gwen. Want to bear her children. What else can I say?
- Tori Amos-She is so sensual and sexy, she makes it obvious why my friend Rick's idea of a perfect woman is a piano playing red-head (even if Tori doesn't have the accent to go along with it).
- Ely Cannon-This guy is my best friend from high school. He was in a band back then that changed its name from Wig to Monkey Boy to Zameen to too many other names to count. They gradually got better as they played together longer (even if their lead singer did get more unintelligible)and by the time they broke up I really looked forward to the chance to see them perform or to attend a practice session. Right now Ely's on his own learning a few more instruments. The ones that I know that he plays right now are the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, other percussion, flute, and he's starting in on the violin. Cool, huh?
