Millions of Americans have walked by homeless people everyday, wanting to help but not knowing how. All someone has to do is take ten seconds to pick up the phone to bring the homeless immediate help. It only takes one minute to make a permanent difference in their lives. Someone who sees a homeless person can dial a nationwide toll-free number 1-800-HUD-1010 that will connect them to the local social service agency. That agency can then respond with an offer of help for that homeless person. Also, the agency will give you suggestions for what you can do to help the homeless, such as : Donate to local food banks, tutor homeless children, or pay a months rent for an apartment for a homeless person.
There are many places homeless people can go to get help when they need it. Here is a list of some of the places different homeless people can go to get help with different problems and situations, and some of the different things these places can do to help. Volunteers and donations are always welcome.
