To Tell the Truth

Host: Bud Collyer, Garry Moore, Joe Garagiola, Bill Cullen, Robin Ward, Lynn Swann, Gordon Elliott, Mark Goodson, John O'Hurley
Premiere: September 18, 2000

Premise: A group of three contestants each claim to be the same person; a panel of four celebrities try to guess who the real person is.

The three contestants are introduced, the host reads the sworn afffidavit of the actual person, relating an interesting story or achievement. When the three challengers are seated, each panelist gets to cross-examine the three contestants for thirty seconds. The celebrities are free to ask any questions they want pertaining to the affidavit in question. The impostors are free to lie as much or little as they like, but the real person is game bound to tell the truth (hence the name of the show.)

After all four have had a chance, they must vote for who they believe the actual person is, giving whatever reason they like. After that, the host instructs "Will the real John Doe please...STAND UP!" The team of players splits money for each wrong vote, that amount varied during the run, from $50 per wrong vote up to $1,000.

The show consisted of two or three regular games, and sometimes a sub-game was played to fill the time.
