Blue Seed

If you're into some major action as well as a little romance, then you'll definately enjoy this series. Blue Seed is about a regular highschool girl named Momiji who finds out that she is actually a Kushinada, a legendary maiden who has the power to destroy the Aragami, which are monsters that are plaguing Japan -- if she sacrifices herself, that is. However, if she is killed by the Aragami, then the Aragami will take over Japan, and perhaps the world. Well, at least that's what I *think* the plot is about. I watched the entire series in two 7-hour time blocks (not recommended!), so by the end my mind got kinda fuzzy. Momiji is protected by a government agency called the TAC, as well as a mysterious man called Kusanagi who she later falls in love with.

This 26-episode series is really awsome: there's romance, monsters, cool fighting, comedy, a crazy idol-wannabe, and much more! I also heard that ADV films is going to release Blue Seed 2 soon -- I've already seen the first episode, and yup, the Aragami are back. The second story arc also delves deeper into Momiji and Kusanagi's relationship as Kusanagi finds out that he's not the only one of his species (he's half human, half Aragami), and Momiji thinks he's cheating on her.

Rating: PG-13

Nudity: A little bit, not much... I think... Well, its been a while since I've watched it, but I remember Momiji's skirt got torn in the first episode.

Story Line: Pretty good -- a little on the more complicated side, though. A lot of references to Japanese mythology.

Comedy: Just enough comedy mixed with just enough action.

Violence: A lot of violence, including spilled monster guts and some dismembered limbs.

Genre: Action, mythology, monsters, etc.

Total Rating: 8/10
