X 1999 by Clamp
this Manga is great, it is from the unique vision of Clamp (Magic Night Rayearth), and is about a boy who is the only person who can prevent the end of the world. So far there are seven volumes in this series, and they all are really great.
Blood - The Last Vampire
This film is still forthcoming, and will be available in the United States August 28 2001. I saw it Raw Footage (Raw - Not yet translated to English), and my mind was blown by the animation alone.
Serial Experiments Lain
Lain is by far the strangest series I have ever seen, this thirteen episode series is about a girl, who is actually god, and how she travels into her computer. The internet, or "Wired" is her kingdom, and she has power there, until her personality splits.
