Here is a collection of a few possible summertime activities. Some of them are a little crazy, but I know I can get some volunteers to go with me! Right guys?

Climb Liberty Mountain and hike to Canyon Lake
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Granite Falls
Length: 2 days (14+ hours total)
Difficulty: Class 2-3 (scrambling)
When: July-August; when there is less snow
No trail, we would be bushwacking the whole way. Possibly camp near Canyon Creek.
Enchanted Valley hike
Location: Olympics
Length: 37 miles (excluding Mt. Anderson) 4-5 days, 5-6 if we climb Mt. Anderson
Difficulty: Mt. Anderson is Class 2 (scrambling)
When: anytime, July-August best for Mt. Anderson
Trail crossing Olympics East-West, camping along trail, aka: "Valley of a Thousand Waterfalls"
Camp at Salt Creek Rec. Area & Fort Hayden
Location: Near Port Angeles
Length: weekend stay?
When: anytime
Wildlife refuge, WWII Battery and bunkers (can drive through them)
Fee for camping & showers; no reservations- first come first served
Go to Wild Waves & Enchanted Village
Location: Between Seattle & Tacoma
When: anytime
Tickets: $30 + $7 for parking
Open 10AM-7PM in June and til 8PM in July and August
Timberhawk, I-5 Dive, Wild Thing, waterslides
Climb Mt. Pugh
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Darrington
Length: 7 miles total; 6 hours
Difficulty: Most Difficult (has a trail)
When: anytime, July-August better
Trail starts 15 miles from Darrington (long drive)
Climb Green Mountain
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Darrington
Length: 8 miles total; 6 hours
Difficulty: Most Difficult (has a trail)

Trail starts about 35 miles from Darrington (VERY long drive); lookout at the top
Camp in Gothic Basin
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Granite Falls
Length: 9.4 miles total; 2 days (possibly longer to climb Del Campo)
Difficulty: Most Difficult (has a trail) Del Campo is Class 2-3
When: anytime, July-August better
Trail starts about 23 miles from Granite Falls (long drive) mining debris, lakes, Del Campo & Gothic Pk. nearby
Triple Summit: Morning Star, Vesper, and Sperry Peaks
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Granite Falls
Length: 2.6 miles to Headlee Pass (just over 2 hours), need 2 maybe 3 days to climb all 3 peaks
Difficulty: Vesper is class 2, about 3 hours from Headlee; Morning Star is class 3, 4 hours; Sperry is class 2, 3 hours.
When: anytime, July-August better
Trail starts about 22 miles from Granite Falls (long drive). Possibly camp at lake beyond Headlee Pass for 1-2 nights. Probably climb Morning Star one day and Vesper and Sperry on another day. There is a ridge connecting Vesper & Sperry. Big Four is also on a ridge connected with Sperry. It is possible and one of the easier routes up Big Four (small section of class 3, would add at least another day to climb it).
Hike or ride bikes through Snoqualmie Tunnel
Location: Hyak on I-90, 1.5 hour drive from Lake Stevens
Length: 5.6 miles total; 2.5 hours walking
Difficulty: easy, flat grade
When: anytime
Could possibly start here, ride bikes about 50-60 miles to Clancey's house and the aquaduct in Thorp. May be 2 days to do this (but it would probably be downhill most of the way!).
Hike Pinnacle Lake/ Bear Lake; Possible Climb of Mt. Pilchuck
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Granite Falls
Length: 3.6 miles total to Pinnacle Lake, 10 miles total to Mt. Pilchuck
Difficulty: Moderate to the lakes, unknown after that but not too difficult
When: anytime, July-August better
Trail starts about 21 miles from Granite Falls (long drive). Possibly camp at Summit Lake or Bathtub Lakes on side of Pilchuck.
Go Skydiving
Location: Harvey Field, Snohomish
Cost: $200 base cost; for $25 can add 1 minute of freefall, $90 for a video
When: Daily May thru September, classes at 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, and 6PM. Winds must be less than 15 mph, cloud ceiling must be at least 8,000 ft.
30 minute class, 15-20 min. flight, then 30-60 seconds of freefall at 130mph!

Weekend Camping Trip: Walt Bailey/ Mallardy Ridge trail; Bald Mtn., Cutthroat Lakes, Twin Falls and Ashland Lakes
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Granite Falls
Length: 19 miles total (starting from Walt Bailey trailhead, going to Twin Falls and back, and ending at Ashland Lakes trailhead). 4.2 miles to Cutthroat Lakes, approx. 9.5 miles to Island Lake (some off-trail required). Would take 2 days.
Difficulty: More Difficult
When: anytime, July-August better
We will need 2 cars, park one at the Ashland Lakes trailhead, then drive to the Mallardy Ridge trailhead, hike back over, then drive back over and get the other car. (Painful process, but allows a one-way hike which is much better!)
Trail starts about 27 miles from Granite Falls (VERY long drive). Possibly camp at Cutthroat Lakes (campsites here) or Island Lake. Could climb Bald Mtn. which is not far off the trail at all. Use Beckey guide for details.
Weekend Camping/Biking Trip to San Juans
Location: Spencer Spit State Park, Lopez Island, San Juans
45 minute ferry ride to Lopez Island from Anacortes
Need to make reservations at state park ahead of time.
Cost: Ferry ride with our bikes would be $10-15 a person. Taking a car would be about $30, maybe more. The campground is $16 per night plus a $7 reservation fee. Primitive campsites are $10.
Spencer Spit State Park Reservation Site
Climb Mount Forgotten and do some exploring
Location: Mountain Loop Hwy out of Granite Falls
Length: Approx. 10.5 miles total; would need one long day. 3.8 miles to meadow on shoulder of Mt. Forgotten (end of trail), an additional hour or so would be needed to climb Mt. Forgotten.
Difficulty: Most Difficult, Mt. Forgotten is class 2 with 30' section of class 3.
When: anytime, July-August better
Perry Creek Falls at 2 miles from trailhead, awesome views at the top. At 1 mile, Pitchfork Falls can be seen across the valley.
Trail starts about 28 miles from Granite Falls (VERY long drive).
Ride the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
Location: Elbe, WA; about a 2.5 hour drive from Lake Stevens. SE of Olympia.
Cost: $12.50 per person
When: July 4th to Labor Day is open daily, 11AM, 1:15PM, and 3:30PM. Otherwise it is only open Sat & Sun.
1.5 hour ride around Mt. Rainier.
