Daria!  (the musical)

Daria!  (the musical) is a musical parody of Daria.  The characters sing songs, building up to the story about the huricane.  You could think of this episode as an "overture" or introduction of the 3rd season.  The events start from a regular morning, the Morgendorffer's wake up, and Daria goes to school.  The school is having their big football game and is having a pep rally assembly but Principal Yi tells the students that the huricane has been upgraded to a huricane warning.  She cancels the game and sends all the students home.  Then the Lawndale High School students starts to sing, "What if the town blew away".  While of this was happening Daria and Jane are hanging out on top of the school roof, meeting Brittany and Kevin.  The hurricane starts and Jane, Daria, Brittany, and Kevin decides to stay in a tool shed after being trapped on top of the roof.  Then they sing the song "They must be worried".  The story goes on with Jake and Trent trying to look for Daria and Jane during the huricane storm.   The huricane stops, Jane, Daria, Brittany, and Kevin leave the tool shed, and Trent and Jake survived a car crash.  The town gets together singing about how it was a dull morning and how interesting it turned out.  Daria then ponders what tomorrow might bring. 

Through A Lens Darkly

This episode is mainly about Daria getting contact lenses.  The mom suggests Daria to get contact lenses after almost hitting a dog.  Daria stated that her peripheral vision is not that great.  Daria has a trouble deciding to wether to get contact lenses or to stick with her glasses.  She was debating the issue because she thought that if she wore contact lenses people would think she's a hypocrite.  They will think that Daria is a fake because she is well known for not caring about her looks but here she is wearing contact lenses.  When hearing that her favorite aunt Amy decided to get glasses she decides to get them.   The first day she wore them everybody was surprised about Daria wearing contact lenses.  Everyone favored Daria's new "image", all the teachers liked it because they thought that it would open up her social life.  By the end of the day Daria's contact lenses began to irritate her eye.  She decides to take them off.   Daria is now confused, she still does not know wether to wear the contacts or the glasses.  Jane, Jodie, and Britanny comforts Daria on her state of confussion.   After hearing Britney's unforgetable quote: 

"By the way, Daria, I just want you to know I think it's really brave of you to get those contact lenses and admit that you care about the way you look, even just a little. Because knowing that a brain can be worried about her looks makes me feel, um, I don't know, not so shallow or something. Like we're not that different, just human, or whatever. "

Daria does not feel so hypocritical anymore, and sticks with wearing her glasses.  On the way home, Daria (nearly blinded because she is not wearing her contacts nor her glasses) and Jane are trying to plan away to break the news to her mom, Helen.  As they talk, Helen passes them and offers Daria to drive around for her.  Shocked because she doesn't have her contacts nor her glasses.
