By breeding, Baumer should have been a pinto coloring. However he surprised all when he was born a bright chestnut color with only a white stripe and two hind socks. When bred to a pinto colored mare he will produce pinto foals. When bred to solid colored mares, there is a chance the pinto gene will be passed on.
