I Remember Now
This particular writing I think is the beginning of the end to this chapter in my journey. Over the course of about ten days I have remembered most of what happened to me on that long ago night. Like being handed a ViewMaster with a round card of pictures I was able to see the past one click of the lever at a time.
One click ...
one frame ...
one memory ...
one more piece of the past for me to sift through and come to terms with.
I know that some college students this time of year refer to this as "hell" week because of finals ... well it was hell week for me too, and I think this was my final exam. I can remember thinking that this feels like a pass/fail sort of thing. At many times throughout this week and a half I had grave doubts that I would pass the exam. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving I did indeed give up and quit. I can somewhat smile at that now ... and smile at all the friends who told me not to be silly, that I was too strong to give up.
They were right ... *smile* ... I am too strong.
