PA will alway's be home to me. Not just
because I was born there, but also because I
think it is the most beautiful place in the
world.
I was born in Charles Cole Memoral Hospital
in Coudersport, Potter County, PA on 31
December, 1976. I was a normal size infant of
about 5 lbs and I'm not sure how big.
My parent's didn't know what to name their
8th child, so for the first week of my life my
name was "boy". My older sister's tried to
help my Parents with this task, but with
little success. Finally, it was my 2 older
brother's who decided my name, Norman J. II.
I was named after my Grandfather.
At this time in life my Dad had just gotten
out of farming due to a severe crop loss and
was working for a pipeline company inspecting
the weld's on pipeline's. He wasn't home much,
but when he was my mom always made sure I
knew who he was.
We continued to live on the farm till I was
4 years old. It was then my Dad took a job
working for nuclear power plant's as an
Inspecter. We moved to Ohio and I started
kindergarten there. It was a lot different
there than home because there were no hills
and no where to really go explore like home.
We lived there for about a year and a half
before we moved to another part of Ohio. We
lived in the second place for a little while
then moved back to PA and the farm. I was
happy to be home.
By this time I was in 1st grade. This was my
3rd school in one year and because of the
amount of time I missed from school because
of moving I was held back for a second year
of first grade. Well after about the first
quarter we moved again, this time to
Michagen. We lived there a whole month before
moving to York, PA. This is where I finily
stopped moving and got to finish school.

I think this is why I love PA so much,
because we kept going back to it. I was able
to go back to Potter County whenever my
parents wanted to go home to see family or
go hunting. I have grown up with the beauty
of PA's culture and wildlife. I have seen the
leaves turn firey colors in the Fall. The
fields and hills full of snow. I have seen
a lot of it's wildlife playing in the forest
and have learned to enjoy it's simple
pleasures. It is the only place I know where
you can be in a mid-size city in a minute, an
hour or two later be in the rolling hill's
and scenic country the next.
I also love PA because there is ALWAY's
something to do. In the spring you can go
fishing. In the summer you can go to several
park's, includeing Hershey Park, where they
make Hershey chocolate!!! You can go to Dorney
Park and Wild Water Kingdom where they have
the coolest water ride's. In the fall there
is small game season and after Thanksgiving
is Buck season. In the winter there is
snowmobiling and skiing. All year round you
can go to many places for dancing, dining
or whatever float's your boat.
I think the biggest reason I love PA so much
is because my family is there. It seems like
no matter where I go in PA I have family
there. It's great to have people to go see
all over the state so you can go see new
places or revisit old ones. PA is also not
lacking in historical culture either. We have
everything from Independince Hall in Philly
to the Gettysburg Battle Ground.

If you've read this far I probably sound
like an advertisement to visit PA, but it's
how I look at my home state. To me, it
never gets old, just exciting. I put some
link's on here to some PA sites so you can
either get more info or just take a look at
some of the pics. Have fun!!
