So my sister and I went to see "Quills" Saturday evening. It was pretty good..one
thing I know about watching these artsy kinds of films is that their previews are
excellent! We saw a preview for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," which looks
really goo. Afterwards, we went to QFC, various people hit us up for money...including
this blind dude, who I thought was lost since he asked us for "help." No, he just
wanted money for "food" yeah, whatever dude. Then there were a couple teens in front
of QFC and they asked for money as well. That's something I hate about being on
Broadway, all the moochers.
The following day, Lar and I went to see "The Grinch" which was good, too. The only
bad thing were all the little kids who were in the audience. And apparently, they
had seen it a few times because they were echoing the dialogue. Nice, I'm so
tired of people who do not have movie theatre etiquette. We didn't come here to
hear you talk, we came to see this damn movie. So now if you can just shut up, I'd
like to get back to it, thanks.
Dorks.
Last week of work was easy. On Monday I brought up whether I could start
doing some over-time or if there was some kind of policy regarding it. She went to
ask her boss and came back to say that I couldn't do OT. I guess it's alright, I
am working 'full time' this break instead of just keeping me at half. But still,
it would have been nice.
The woman didn't do much at all and left early on Tuesday,
I sat around and did some emailing but left at 3.30, cuz I was just so bored. Lar
and I went to Lynnwood to look at some game stuffs. I exchanged my old school Nintendo
games for ones that worked...rather, they cleaned out Mario 2 and it was fine, but
Mario 3 was dead and they had no more copies. That really sucked, but I picked
Tetris instead.
We went into the mall and spent forever looking at more Dreamcast games. Afterwards,
we were having dinner at the Spaghetti Factory, because a new one opened up here.
It's a lot bigger but that also means a lot more waiting due to more people. The
wait was an hour and we couldn't wait that long because I had to be home for Buffy. :P
So we went towards home and stopped off at Toys R Us so that he could redeem his $50
for more Dreamcast things. We ended up getting food at La Vaca and I got home in time for
my shows...
Which were goo. I thought what happened to Buffy was pretty dumb. I mean, Riley knows
she's the slayer so this is how things are gonna be. And so he starts getting sucked
by vampires to compensate or something? When she finds out, they argue and then
he tells her he's leaving tonight if she won't stop him. She isn't, but then Zander
gives her this cheezy love talk and she runs after him but it's too late.
How retarded. I'm glad he's gone because he was boring me! Ha! Dark Angel was already
a rerun and that was a great disappointment. I took a shower and continued to
read more of "Memoirs of a Geisha."
On Wednesday she brought in her kid. He's in the 8th grade and for the first part
of the day, we didn't pay any attention to each other. In fact, he was still tired,
so he fell asleep under her chair. It was really something to see...he wrapped his upper
half in his coat and then curled up under her chair, on the dirty waxy floor..and just
slept!
I was amazed, I pointed this out to her and she told me he did that all the time. *L*
She was nice enough and made me a plate of goodies for the holidays. There were like
6 kinds of cookies and other and she made a Rice Crispies wreath...colored green, with
red hot berries, and a ribbon tied around it. How thoughtful.
I came back from lunch and the kid was alone, so we just started talking...about
the usual things I talk about with kids...games, movies, music, computers, etc.
He's a nice kid--all day I had been watching the way he interacted with his mom and
other people. Good kid. Anyways, she came back from lunch and then they went back out
to the bookstore. *L* And all morning, she had been making these boxes out of old
xmas cards. *LMAO* So she really did no work that day.
That night, Lar and I decided to just go ahead and buy a new computer! We were at Best Buy earlier that week and saw a good system, complete set for a great price. So
we went back there, and of course we were gonna apply for and use a Best Buy card. He
suggested that I be the one with the application since I have more credit history
than he did. That made me kind of nervous but oh well, right?
After that was processed, and I got a good limit, we talked to just about everyone in
the store about financing plans. Cuz we couldn't get a straight answer. That bugged,
but at least there were plenty of people around, when we went the last time, there
was no one!
We finally got a straight answer and finally decided to get someone to get us the boxes.
it was some little skinny white dude. *L* He brought us the printer cable and some
replacement cartridges but they were so expensive! And we put them back when he wasn't
looking. :P Next, there was a problem ringing up since I obviously didn't have my
BB card yet and the guy there didn't know how to ring me up using my license. But
in the end, we came back with a new computer!!
It was pretty late, around midnight when we came home and moved my old computer to
put into the big room on the formica table..and then setting up the new one. Boy, it's
way more compact that the one I have. WOW! We were downloading programs we'd be
needing and I went to bed after 1am...but of course I couldn't sleep and woke up
to mess around on it. Heh.
When I woke up at 7am, I was completely dead and called in to say I wasn't coming
in until later...10 or 11am. :P I finally arrived at 11am. I didn't do much. I had been keeping up with the mail, so there were no envelopes to open or applications to enter.
Friday I was alone in the office and there was even less work to do. I had to
turn off the lights because they were hurting my eyes when I was doing some entry. And
of course that caught a few people's attentions, so I had them coming in and yacking with
me. That fine, since I was doing work when they were. :P But I'm sure they didn't expect
for me to be constantly working.....the office across the hall, the woman keeps the
door ajar and when I walk by I can see her playing solitaire! *LOL*
Anyways, she spent much of the day talking to me and I had nothing to say in return.
Sometimes things happen like that. I had several people ask me if I was showing up on
Tuesday and if I said "yes" they'd either tell me not to, or say that they were glad
because they were too. As far as I can tell, only 3 pepole will be here. How can I
pass up and opportunity to work unsupervised? So I will show up on Tuesday, but if
there's nothing to do, I will go home tho...but I'll try to put in half a day at least.
I've been slacking on this timesheet as well...by coming in 3hrs late one day, leaving
an hour early another, etc etc. :P
I went to Annie's work to keep her company until she went home. Wilson had the same
idea and we talked. He gave me part of my xmas gift, a burned copy of N*sync. The funny
thing was, I called Annie to ask her if I could borrow it to burn for him. And she
ended up telling him I was looking for it and since he still had it, he decided to just
burn me a copy. Once again, my plans have been foiled!
They went to dinner afterwards and I just went home. I messed around a little with "Sims"
which is more difficult than I thought. Did I tell you that we were prompted to get
the new computer because "Sims" couldn't work on my old computer? It didn't meet the
minimum requirement of 233MHz...which my box was only 150! HA!
Then I played more Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast and we just switched back and forth like that.
In the end, I decided I wanted to read "Geisha" more than play with these new toys so I
did that, and followed Lar to whichever room he was in. He was d'loading mp3z from
Napster and playing Doom or Quake or something in the big room. So far, he's accumulated
30 mp3z, that's pretty good for 2 days. It's so funny how he's so excited about mp3z and
Napster, but it's old news to me.
I'm looking forward to making a few mix CDs though. I have plans to get a ghetto booty
mix and a pop music mix. He's working on some folk stuffs or whatever, and an 80s, which
is coming along well. Now I can burn CDs!!
As for my old computer, it'll take a while to take out the stuff I want and put it on the
new one. I had to go home to get my ethernet cable for that. Gotta burn the old mp3z off...and more importantly, PEEL OFF ALL THOSE STICKERS.
Why did I decide to put all these stupid stickers on it??? They are a bitch to take off and
leave that stupid residue. Blah. After all this cleaning, I'm gonna give it to my parents
so that they can do their day-trading or something and plus, I'll have a decent computer
to use when I come home on weekends. Yeah.
Saturday morning B and I went home. Foist we went to see "Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon"...IT IS AMAZING. I will have to see it again. The fighting scenes were impressive
and just like those fighting films we used to watch as children. They even did that
healing hands thing....you'll know what I'm talking about if you've ever seen these films.
I drove us home and despite the congestion, we made it in an hour. Had dinner at the
3 girz' house..and it was cool. The food was good and in the we just chatted. My favorite
one gave me her Sadies picture, which is soooo adorable. The eldest told me that Western
has already accepted her but she's still waiting on UW. I hope she can get in because I
know her parents will be so disappointed/angry/mean if she didn't. *whew*
We left early and B went out with friends while I stayed home to do some laundry and
finish my book....which didn't really end that wonderfully. The beginning and middle
were great, but something was just missing at the end. I don't know what though. Oh
well, still a good read...highly recommended.
Today I woke up at 1pm and laid around. I watched "The Little Mermaid" and then
decided to get ready for the day around 3pm. :P I went out to the stores for some
last minute shopping and of course the stuff I wanted were out. Great. Whatever.
Parking and crowds weren't that bad, though I kind of felt out of place here. *shrug*
I got home and then we had dinner and now I sit. I'm now waiting for Annie to call and
tell me that she's back from gramma's. I'll give her her gift and Jen's...I don't feel
like doing anything tonight and plus I'm feeling kind of sick or something. I've been
having trouble sleeping and that constact scratch is in my throat.
Otherwise, I think my pinky is falling off and I'm losing my hair. :P
Yeah, since summer my pinky had a little dry patch on the first joint and it hasn't
gone away since then. WTF. I don't know what it's all about and perhaps I'll look into
going to have something check it out. But for now, it's falling off.
As for my hair, I've noticed that more has been coming out when I brush and in the shower.
I don't feel like I've been stressed out any, but there is goes, outta mah head. Whatever.
Oh and my grades for the quarter sucked...the class with the website assignment that
I bombed, took everything with it. I got a flat 3.0. With the originally lame CMU
class, I got a 3.3, which was prolly helped by my paper. I didn't do as well in my
stats as I thot, I screwed myself in the end by fucking up on the final. I always do
that, that bugs me SO MUCH.
Despite the low marks, my cumulative raised 0.01, to a 3.13..so at least it was a
positive change. :P
Then for work, the woman may not come in at all that week....but I think she will,
cuz one of her bosses wants her to handle making copies for the agenda/minutes. Oh
well. That sucks for her, but then she'll prolly just come in for part of that day
and then leave for the rest. But for the most part, I will be unsupervised for
all of next week!
Too bad I'm getting paid January 10?! That's forever again.
No New Year's plans, we'll prolly just hang out at home or something. Make sure that
we have plenty of food and movies and stay in. The new quarter begins on the 2nd and I'll
check my syllabi to make sure that MLK weekend is free for my LA trip. I'm excited now
because I can afford to go. *L*
B and mom came home in the afternoon and we had dinner, then we just laid around until
Annie called me and I left for her house. It was her and Nelson, we sat and listened to
her talk for the longest time. *L* I was feeling tired for some reason. But I gave her
her gifts: some chocolate and a couple magnetic key holders. She gave me Wilson's gift
to me: a Bubbles PPG talking stuffed doll. She's cute. Then we sat around MORE, until her
parents came home. Her mom showed us her silk worms, which I thought were really
disgusting!!
Then Allan picked us up and we went to the Capitol to meet one of his friends. We
drove around there cuz we were trying to get to the steps, but there was a cop sitting
there. We pulled off the main street and parked to wait for his friend.
The cop comes tearing down at us and parks inches away from us, blocking the car in.
He asks if Allan is a State employee and he says NO, and the cop tells him to LEAVE.
Just LEAVE and park in the public parking that's over there, etc etc. What a freaking
DICK! Sure, it's shitty to work Christmas Eve, but you don't have to be a Goddamned
jerk about it! ARGH.
So we drove around and Allan contacted his friend, who was also yelled at by the copper.
Then we went to Mary Colleen's, but she wasn't home and eventually ended up at Sharis...where Annie said that she'd buy for me cuz it was the only reason why I went out
with them. :P The waitress gave me a chocolate shake instead of an Oreo...I was not
in the mood to wait another 20mins for a shake so I told her it was FINE. :P
We stayed there a couple hours and then came home. The family exchanged gifts and it was
pretty cool. Since my shopping trip was fruitless earlier, I only gave my sister this
electronic fortune cooky. She/we gave the rents a chicken calendar and a Costco membership.
They gave us these candies and me $20....B spoiled me by getting me: an I-zone camera with
3 rolls extra film, the electronic Pikachu 2, Harry desk calendar, a stuffed fishy, and
this baking sheet she saw on Martha. So I'm excited to use that cuz my cooky sheet is
pretty fried...and the I-zone is neato and I'll make some good use of it. And I've already
named my fishy "Simon." I don't think I've named anything Simon before, so it's cool. It
fits. :))))))
Right now we're watching Beauty and the Beast.
I think tomorrow we're gonna catch a movie and if it's suitably rated, we will invited
the 3 sisters to come with us...I think it'd be fun. So I'm looking forward to it. Will
be returning to Seattle in the afternoon/evening...and that's about it.
Laid-back Christmas...it usually is. I have neato toys to play with now.
Happy Holidays.
