Secrets Chapter 1
She was exhausted. Finals. The most stressful time during college. She
was so glad that the week was half over. A hot, relaxing bubble bath was all
she could think about as she walked down the hall to her room.
Li Kline was in her third year of college. She was majoring for a
teaching degree so she could teach Spanish in school. It was time for finals
at her college and she had been studying for what seemed like forever
preparing for the tests. Her grades needed to stay up if she wanted to keep
her scholarship.
Entering her apartment, Li tossed her bag, purse, and books on her bed.
She paused on her way to the bathroom to look at her Backstreet Boys posters
and memorabilia on her walls. Walking over she placed a kiss on the picture
of her favorite BSB member A.J. McLean. She continued on her way to the
bathroom and started her bubble bath. Then she walked out to make sure she
locked the door to her apartment behind her. She went back to her room and
got fresh clothes before going back to the bathroom and getting into her
bath.
About ten minutes into her bath, she heard a knock on the door.
"It figures!" Li exclaimed to herself. "As soon as I start relaxing,
someone wants something!"
She got out of the tub and put a robe on after drying off a little. As
she walked into the living room she tuned on more lights in the apartment.
Another knock was heard through the apartment.
"I'm coming!" she called.
Before opening the door, she put the chain in place. She cracked open the
door to peek at the person in the hall. She didn't expect to see the person
that was standing there.
"Li, it's me. Are ya just gonna leave me standing out here?!" her best
friend, Amber (Dust) Silfee, told her.
"What are you doing here 9:30 at night?" Li asked as she let Dust in. "You usually call before you come over."
"I have a surprise that I thought you would like," she told Li.
"Well, are you gonna tell me what it is??" Li asked.
"I haven't decided yet!" she said.
"You better tell me!!"
"All right! All right! I'll tell ya!" Dust exclaimed as she sat down on
the couch. "I got us something we've wanted for a long time."
"What kind of an answer is that?" Li asked in confusion.
"Let's see...we love BSB, their music and videos, but we've never gone to one of their......" Dust trails off in her explanation.
"Concerts?! You got us concert tickets?!" Li asked Dust in astonished shock.
"Yeah! I thought it would be a nice surprise for you with all of your finals." Dust told her, pleased with her best friend's reaction to the news as she held up the tickets for Li to see. What Dust failed to mention was the second half of her surprise.
"When is the concert?" Li asked.
"In a few weeks. Which gives you time to finish your finals. And we have a chance to go shopping!!" Dust told her friend.
