Reunion

This is the story about two elven lovers named Hyacinth Ravenwing and Tehlko Duran. Tehlko and Hyacinth had lived together since childhood in the village of Quilthana, near the south of the great continent. The village was nothing more than a backwater one but still any elven homeland is by far a work of art to any creatures eye.

One day as the villagers were tending to there daily lives, a band of mercenaries led by an elven Warlord attacked and burned the village to the ground. Hyacinth had been going on a long erand for her mother to the human town on the outskirts of the forest edge when she had returned only to find the village a ruin. Her marble village with beautiful crystal poles along streets which would catch sunlight in them and light the streets at night, the watermill where her mother and brother lived and even the small beautiful apple trees along the middle of the marble brick roads were but a memory now while a hell of burned wood and stone remained.

She looked around for signs of any life and found none whatsoever. With a heart as charred as the village around her she started for her house hoping to find any remains of her past life belongings in the rubble. As she moved some of the charcoal that had been part of her beautiful house, she found small bits and pieces of brooches, crystals and small book which belonged to her father who'd died long before that day. As she stood up and cleaned her tears, she decided to head back where she'd come from and ask to be taken into safety. Hyacinth didn't know if the men who did this were still around and she didn't want to find out.

As Hyacinth was about to leave her past, an all too familiar face poked out of it. The figure had appeared seemingly from no where along the way out of the village and was leaning against one of the now dead tree trunks by the side of the road. A male elf stood silently with a hood that nearly hid all of his silvery hair except for the small strands that escape through the front of his hood and over his eyes, hidden by the shadows of the hood. The face looked up and smiled a familiar smile as well. "Hello there hun" the man said "I thought they'd gotten you too" It was Tehlko.

"Tehlko!" Hyacinth yelled as she ran to hug him fiercely "Tehlko thank Kohan your alive! What happened here??"

Tehlko unhooded himself with a grin and looked at the elvenmaiden with amusement "Well now this is a surprise...it seems you recognized me with my hood on when those other hoolagens never even saw my face when I hid"

Hyacinth looked up at him sadly "Then...it was a group of people .... troops...?"

Tehlko's grin vanished and a grim look overcame him instead "No...no troops.... this was a small band of men... they had a warlock with them... Hya... he was... he was like an unstoppable force....I mean this man was almost like a god...I'm lucky to have even escaped with my life..."

Tehlko looked at the small pouch Hyacinth had dangling from her hip and pointed a finger at it casually "What's in the bag?"

"Its some things I found back at my house...well....what was left of it. Im going to Zayas at the end of the forest to see if I can be taken in and report what has happened here"

"Sounds like an adventure to me hun. I think I'll go with you. Its a harsh harsh road up ahead and a little thing like you might get lost in it. Besides, I can help you in your report. Remember, I saw them first hand"

"I agree with the report...but as for me not being able to handle the road up ahead, I would remind you I just came back from walking it both ways so I dont need anyones protection thank you"

And with that she turned her back to Tehlko and began to walk not bothering to stop and see if he followed. Tehlko grinned and hooded his face once again pulling his cloak up near him. It was chilly this time of year and he was prone to illness too easily he thought and watched the elvenmaiden walk infront of him with not so much as a scarf. He smiled involuntarily at the sight of the marching lady carrying herself up high as if she knew every bit of milk and cranny on that road. Too bad she forgot about the small rock she just tripped over just now, Tehlko thought...

A few days later....
