Kobolds!

"Get down!"

Tehlko grabbed Hyacinth's arm and pulled her down into the bushes. Lifting the upper part of his face up over the branches of the bush he looked deep into the forest and listened well. Hyacintch was about to say something when Tehlko put his finger tip to his lips.

"Kyrken" he whispered into Hya's ear. Kobolds.

Looking back to the forest his eyes narrowed trying to search for the dog-men. Then he spotted what his eyes searched for running swiftly through the forest. As they ran Tehlko could hear their beastly breaths of air. The sound seemed to bring back memories he seemed to try and hide but his face betrayed him. Hya noticed it as she looked back and saw his facial features growing hard around his cheeks as if he gritted his teeth and his narrowed eyebrows coming more fiercely together.

"Tehlko..whats wro.."

"Shhhhh..." Putting his finger once more to his lips but not looking at Hyacinth Tehlko silenced her.

When Hyacinth had spoken the kobold infront of the pack of three stopped and made a gesture for the others to stop as well. He seemed to be the leader. The kobold lifting his ears to the air and tilting his head slightly to one side listen to see if what he had heard could be picked up again. Hyacintch cursed herself in her mind for forgetting the excellent hearing of a kobold.

Kobolds are half men, half dog-like creatures who walk on two fur and clawed feet. When they run these usually do on all hands and feet. Their senses of smell and hearing are extremely well developed though they lack a good eye sight. Kobolds make incredible trackers and hunters. Usually contracted to hunt for small farming towns who have no permanent hunters during winter; some have been known to become hired mercenaries on the other hand. The dog-men are always seen in packs. Even though they walk on two feet and speak and think like intelligent beings, they give easily into their raw animal instincts which is why there are many cases of thieves dying at the hands of a kobold they had chosen to be their targets.

These kobolds on the other hand didn't seem to be just taking a stroll in the forest. They seemed to be searching or heading some place and they stopped at the sound of Hya's voice so they could be searching for someone also. Hyacintch looked over to Tehlko to tell him what she had just thought of about what the kobolds were doing here when she saw his expression again. This time he was gritting his teeth visibly through his lips. Hyacinth knew Tehlko wasn't simply wondering why the kobolds where there. He must know something about them or else he wouldn't be acting this way around their presence.

The kobold who seemed the head of the pack lower his ear and sniffed abruntly. With a gesture of his hand the pack resumed its way, running on all four once again. Hya caught a glimpse of short swords strapped to the backs of each kobold with the exception of one who wore a bow and quiver of arrows.

Tehlko slowly got to his feet once he saw that the kobolds were out of their hearing range. He kepted his eyes focused in the direction the dog-men were heading. The elvenmaiden nugged him abruntly and looked at him with a frown.

"Alright, now I know you know something so out with it. Who were those kobolds?"

"I dont know" replied Tehlko not looking at her

Hyacinth's frowned became deeper and she growled softly to herself. Tehlko recognizing the sound looked back to Hya and smiled.

"Shall we be on now?"

"Not until you tell me what you know. Until then im not moving from this spot" and with those words she stomped once lightly on the ground and crossed her arms.

Tehlko grinned and put his hood back over his head.

"Very well little girl" and he kepted on walking in the direction he was going to in when they had stopped.

"He-hey!" Hya uncrossed her arms and looked to Tehlko's back surprised. "Youre just going to leave me here!?"

"Youre a big girl and you can handle yourself. See you at "

Hyacintch growled again and kept walking after Tehlko after deciding she could re-ask her question at night when he couldn't avoid her. Looking back once in the kobold's direction for a moment, Hya turned and followed Tehlko quickly to catch up with him...

In a far away part of the forest
