Glacial Affection
Floors of valleys
stretch between us,
but we both gaze at the mantle
of freshly fallen snow;
compressed granular accumulating.
Without an intermediate, save the phone
conversation strains
produce crevasses,
zones of debris big enough to become lost in
Tongues of ice freeze
a warming heart
but ice sheets melt and cracks
are quickly healed
across the glaciated valleys.
