August 30: the day in haiku
I won't feel your kiss
for at least another month
my lips are lonely
I tried to hide it
as I drove away from you
you saw me crying
a parking ticket
flashed orange on my windshield
for tires facing north
the dentist tells me
to make one more appointment
to have a tooth filled
today's two o'clock
was really for yesterday
hairdresser hates me
are my car keys lost?
no: sitting on the dashboard.
windows down, unlocked
staticky cell phone
cuts you off in mid-sentence
you call back at nine
tomorrow you're there:
a real college boy with a
girl waiting at home.
