Goku

More or less the main character of the Dragon Ball Trilogy. He was born on the planet Vegeta and one of the only two Saiyans left. He was sent to Earth to destroy it, but a head injury caused him to forget. He has two sons, Gohan, named after his adopted grandfather, and Goten. Pure of heart, Gokou has turned many an enemy into a friend. A powerful fighter, Gokou doesn't know the meaning of the phrase "give up".

Gohan

Gokou's son, he is the most powerful fighter ever. Half Saiyan, half human, Gohan has trained under many fighters, including Gokou and Piccolo. As a child, he was weak and cowardly due to pampering by his mother, but he soon learned to control his power, as demonstrated on Vegeta and Nappa early in Dragon Ball Z. An outcast in high school, he put on a superhero costume and called himself the "Great Saiyanman". This worked until he went into Super Saiyan mode and his mask blew off. In Dragon Ball GT as an adult, he is a nerdy scientist.

Vegeta

Intoduced as a villian early in the Dragon Ball Z series, he is one of the only two Saiyans left. He came to Earth with Nappa to destroy it. They managed to kill Yamcha, Chouzu, Tenshinhan, and Piccolo before Gokou returned to Earth to defeat him. He teams up with Krilyn and Gohan on Namek to find the Dragon Balls before Freeza. After that he joins Gokou, only protecting him so he can kill him himself. He turns good after Gokou shows him constant kindness and friendship. They use the "fusion" technique to become either "Gogeta" or "Vegetto". He is very short-spoken and lets his awesome fighting skills do the talking.

Goten

Gokou's youngest son. Best friend of the young Trunks. He is never a very central character, being introduced so late in the series. He and Trunks perfected the "fusion" technique, becoming one fighter called "Gotenks". After Gokou died a second time, he looked up to Gohan and trained under him.

Trunks

After Bulma and Vegeta are married, Bulma becomes pregnant with a baby boy named Trunks. While this is happening, there are Androids showing up everywhere challenging the Z Fighters. An adult Trunks from the future appears warning Gokou about a possible future. He hangs out with the Z Fighters for a while until the baby Trunks is born. The young Trunks becomes quick friends with Goten. The two have similar fighting styles and use the "fusion" technique to become the warrior Gotenks.

Krilyn

Gokou's best friend, the two trained under Kamesennin for many years. At first bitter rivals constantly competing with each other, they became good friends after that. It is not known if he is human or not. He has a bald head (which later grows hair), no nose, and six dots on his forehead. After the Vegeta saga he becomes Gohan's good friend as well. He is the master of the Kiun-Zan (buzzsaw) fireball. He proves that size doesn't matter.

Piccolo

An "offspring" of Kame-sama, the Guardian of the Earth. Also intoduced as a villian, he becomes good in the beginning of Dragon Ball Z. In Dragon Ball he and Gokou fought in the Tenkaichi Budokai Tournament. Piccolo was badly beaten by Gokou, but Gokou revived him with a Senzu seed. He helped train Gohan, and the two have a good bond.

Yamcha

A villian in the first Dragon Ball series. He had an uncontrollable fear of girls. He wanted the Dragon Balls to get rid of his fear, and he winds up with an on-off relationship with Bulma. He is always hanging out with a floating, shape-shifting cat named Puar.

Tien

A three-eyed bald warrior. He is STRONG (the guy can stop waterfalls for cryin' out loud!). He is best friends with a small, clown-looking boy named Chouzu. The two grew up together, but Tenshinhan's skill quickly surpassed Chouzu's because Chouzu is the "Eternal Child". The two live with a psycho girl named Lunch with a severe personality problem.
