Author's Note: The next chapter is finally out! Sorry it took so long (over a month, I think) but I've been soooo busy with school work! I made this chapter extra long, just to make up for the extra time. And, don't forget to WRITE! Pretty please? I've included a summary for you guys just to refresh your memory (the things I do for you guys!).
Recap: It's the summer after their sophomore year. Everyone is gone except for Pacey and Joey. They spend time with each other and start developing romantic feelings for one another but don't want to admit it. At Cliff's birthday, they dance and kiss! Joey don't know whether she should go out with Pacey or forget the whole thing. Jen and Jack return, and Jen helps Joey make her mind. Joey decides that she wants to be with Pacey. Aww...
"This is really good," Pacey said to Joey as he took a bite out of his burger. "Thanks," Joey said smiling.
Jen rolled her eyes. "Oh, please! You didn't even make it Jo. Bessie did."
Joey and Pacey both threw threatening looks at Jen. Jen took the hint and corrected herself.
"Uh, I mean, yeah Jo. They're really good," she said taking a bite out of her own burger.
Joey smiled. It was only her and Pacey's first day as a "couple" and she could tell that Jen was already annoyed by the "couple" behaviour between her and Pacey. Pacey knew that Jen knew and was cool with it. Besides, he didn't really have a choice whether Jen knew or not. Unfortunately, Jack was still in the dark about the whole thing. Jack was their friend, but they couldn't tell him.
Joey was about to speak again when she saw Jack coming.
"Well, I start work again next week," Jack told his friends as he took a seat beside Jen.
"Good," Joey said. "Less work for me."
"Speaking of work, I have to go," Pacey announced to his friends.
"I'll go with you. I told Grams I'd pick up something for her," Jack said getting up.
"Alright. I guess I'll see you guys later then," Pacey said to Joey and Jen.
"Yeah," Jack said as he turned to leave. "Bye guys."
"Bye Jen," Pacey said. He looked at Joey and smiled. "Bye Joey."
"Bye Pacey," Joey said returning his smile.
Jen rolled her eyes. The two girls watched as Jack and Pacey disappeared into the distance. When they were gone, Jen quickly turned to Joey.
"I'd thought they'd never leave!" Jen exclaimed.
"What do you mean?" Joey asked.
"We'll we can't talk about you and Pacey in front of them. So, come on now, dish. When's the first date?" Jen asked excitedly.
"Whoa, down girl," Joey told Jen, who was practically jumping out of her seat. After Jen finally settled down, Joey gave Jen her answer.
"Our first official date is tomorrow night," Joey said, and she couldn't help cracking a smile as she said so.
"Where are you guys going?" Jen asked getting all excited again.
"I don't know. Pacey said he wanted it to be a surprise," Joey said rolling her eyes.
"Oh how romantic!" Jen said, resting her check against her hands.
"Calm down Jen. You seem more excited about this than I am," Joey said laughing.
"You seem pretty excited about it too," Jen said with a smile.
"I guess," Joey said trying to act casual even though she was wearing a huge smile on her face. Then her face turned more serious. "It's kind of weird though you know? I mean me and Pacey were definitely not suppose to get together. And although there are times when I just want to claw his eyes out, there are other times when I just want him to hold me. This is all just too weird," Joey finally said.
"Yeah, it might be weird," Jen started. "But weird in a good way, right?"
"Yeah," Joey agreed, her heart starting to flutter again.
"Just wait till tomorrow night, Jo. It'll all work out. You'll see," Jen said.
* * * Joey was in charge of locking up again. She was deep in thought as she continued to wipe the counters. She wished that she didn't have to wait till tomorrow night to see Pacey. It was weird that she actually wanted to see Pacey, whereas a couple of months ago, she would dread the thought of even coming in contact with him. But, things had changed, and now she and Pacey were supposedly a "couple". She giggled at that thought.
"I like the way you laugh," a voice behind her said.
Joey turned around in surprise. She saw Pacey at the doorway holding a single red rose in his hand.
"Pacey! Hi!" she greeted.
"Hi," Pacey said with a smile. "Here, this is for you," he said handing her the red rose.
"Thanks," Joey said, feeling shy all of a sudden. She smelled the rose and sighed. Then she looked over at Pacey.
"What are you doing here? I thought you had to work?" she asked.
"I did. I just got off," he informed her. "So, are you ready?"
Joey looked confused. "I thought our date is tomorrow?"
"It is," he said.
Joey waited for him to continued, but he just stood there. Joey started to get annoyed. What did I ever see in him anyway? she asked herself.
"So why are you here?" she asked, trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice.
"I'm here to give you a little preview for tomorrow night," he said with a smile. "Come on." Pacey grabbed Joey's hand and whisked her out of the restaurant, only giving her enough time to lock up the Icehouse.
"Where are we going?" Joey asked, starting to get excited.
"You'll see," Pacey said mysteriously. They hopped in his truck and Joey sat back as she let Pacey take them to their mysterious destination.
"We're here," Pacey announced as he stopped the truck.
Joey looked out the window. She recognized the place right away. It was the grassy field beside the creek where she and Pacey played football just one month ago. She looked around as she got out of the car. She realized how romantic this place could be, with everything covered in the moonlight's soft glow. She wondered what Pacey had planned. A picnic? An evening stroll? She looked at Pacey and saw that he was getting something out of the back of his truck. Joey got excited. Must be the picnic basket, Joey thought happily to herself. This is going to be so romantic, Joey thought to herself. Just me and Pacey under the moonli-
Joey's thoughts quickly deteriorated as she looked at what was in Pacey's hand. It was small and round, and definitely not a picnic basket. She took a closer look and groaned as she realized what it was.
"Football!" Joey wined.
"Yup," Pacey said.
"Oh come on Pacey. I don't want to play football!" Joey complained. "I can't throw that thing even if my life depended on it. Remember what happened last time?"
"Unfortunately," Pacey muttered to himself. "But come on Jo. You have to finish off what you started."
"Pacey, that is the must ridiculous thing I have ever heard! I didn't even want to play football in the first place! You made me! And there's no way that I'm going to do that again" Joey told Pacey.
"Come on, Jo. For me?" Pacey asked with puppy dog eyes.
Joey looked at him and sighed. "Oh alright. You're just lucky that I like puppies," she said.
"Okay, come here," Pacey said, taking her hand as he guided her to the open field.
Britney Spear's (You Drive Me) Crazy starts playing in the background.
"Now this time, actually look at where you're going to throw the ball, okay?" Pacey said to her with a sweet smile.
Joey gave Pacey another famous "death" stare.
"Yeah but will you actually do it is the question," Pacey teased.
"You're on thin ice, Witter," Joey warned.
"Why don't we start playing?" Pacey suggested. Pacey ran down the length of the field.
"Alright, throw it," Pacey yelled to Joey.
Joey did as Pacey said and threw the ball. It landed on the tree a few yards behind Pacey.
"Nice job, Joey," Pacey said sarcasically.
"Hey, at least it's not in the creek this time," Joey said with a grin.
Pacey rolled his eyes.
"Well, go get it," Joey told Pacey.
"I'm not retrieving the ball this time," Pacey told her firmly. "You threw it."
"And it was your idea to play," Joey shot back.
"Look, let's be reasonable here. You can climb trees, I can't. So, you're going to have to go get it," Pacey said.
Joey thought about it and sighed. Pacey was right, she had to go retrieve it. And besides, she made Pacey jump into the creek last time.
"Alright," Joey said. "Just catch me if I fall."
Joey carefully climbed the tree and finally reached the ball. She threw it back to Pacey.
"Mission accomplished," Joey said smiling.
"Alright, just get down from there," Pacey told her.
Joey shifted her weight and began to turn her body around. She started to make her way down. Alright, one step... two step... three step...four-
"Ahhh!" Joey yelled as she felt herself falling from the tree. A second later there was a loud thud.
"Oww," Joey and Pacey both moaned. Joey realized that the ground was softer than she had thought. She looked under her and realized that she landed on top of Pacey.
"Sorry," she said sheepishly.
"Joey," Pacey moaned. "You almost killed me. Next time, can you please-"
Pacey was cut off as Joey's lips covered his own. They continued kissing for a few minutes and Joey finally broke away.
"Thanks for saving me," she said with a smile.
"Anytime," he said, and leaned forward to kiss Joey again. Joey however, pulled away before their lips could meet.
"Do you still want to play football?" Joey asked.
"No," Pacey answered abruptly as he pulled Joey in for another kiss.

Joey quietly tip-toed into the house and closed the door as quietly as she could. She stood still for a minute. A few seconds later, she sighed with relief. Good, Bessie's asleep, she thought. She took another step into the house.
"You're late," Bessie's voice suddenly boomed out.
"Busted," Joey mumbled to herself as Bessie appeared from the living room.
"So, spill it," Bessie instructed. "Where were you?"
"Oh, I was, you know, just getting some fresh air," Joey said casually.
"By yourself?" Bessie asked.
"Well, uh, not exactly," Joey said nervously. "I was with Pacey."
"Out so late?" Bessie asked.
"Um, we were just, you know, hanging out," Joey said.
"Really? And what were you guys doing?" Bessie pressed on.
"Oh, we were just playing football," Joey told her sister.
"At twelve o'clock at night?" Bessie asked skeptically.
Joey sighed. Bessie was obviously not going to give up until she got the truth.
"Okay Bess, I'll be straight with you. Me and Pacey, we're kind of...together," Joey said hesitantly.
"I know," Bessie said with a smile.
"It might seem kind of odd, but- Wait a minute. What do you mean ‘I know'?" Joey asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Pacey dropped by earlier and told me that you'll be late coming home today. I managed to squeeze all the juicy detail out of him," Bessie replied.
"So you knew?" Joey asked with disbelief.
"Yup," Bessie said.
"So why did you put me through all that torture?" Joey asked.
"Cuz I wanted to see you squirm," Bessie answered with a huge grin on her face.
"Ohhhh, I hate you," Joey said.
"And I love you too," Bessie said.
"Ah. The first date," Jen said smiling as she watched Joey frantically throw her clothes out of her dresser. "Isn't this just so great?"
"Yeah, whatever," Joey said as she continued to search her dresser. "Look, Jen, you're not exactly helping. You've been her for over an hour and I still don't know what to wear."
"You never asked," Jen pointed out.
"Well I'm asking now. Help!" Joey exclaimed.
Joey had invited Jen over to help her get ready for her first date with Pacey. Actually, Jen invited herself over to help out. Joey didn't complain though. She was a wreak. Bessie was working at the Icehouse and Joey needed a girl's point of view on things.
"Okay. Calm down," Jen instructed her friend. "I've got the perfect solution."
Joey watched as Jen made her way to the huge knapsack she brought with her to Joey's house. Jen began to unzip the bag.
"Jen, I've been meaning to ask you, what do you have in that bag?" Joey asked bewildered.
"Everything you need to prepare yourself for the first date. And it all starts off with this," Jen said as she pulled out a short tight red dress.
Joey's eyes widened. "Oh no!" Joey said making herself to the other side of the room. "There is no way that I'm going to wear that."
Jen sighed. "Fine," she said, throwing the dress on the nearby chair. She rummaged through her bag again. "What about this?" she asked, holding up a black mini-skirt.
"Uh, no," Joey answered shaking her head.
"Okay, what about this?"
"No."
"This?"
"I don't think so."
"How ‘bout this?"
"No way."
"And this?"
"Not in this lifetime."
Jen slumped back on the couch. "This is harder than I thought."
"Look, Jen. I appreciate you trying to help and all, but those just aren't me. And besides, I don't want Pacey to think that I spent hours decided on what to wear."
"But you are," Jen pointed out.
"Yeah, but I don't want him to know," Joey exclaimed.
"Okay then. Let me take a look at your closet," Jen said making her way to Joey closet.
For the next hour, Jen made Joey try on endless outfits. Finally, they settled for an outfit that they were both content with.
"Finally!" Joey said.
"I know!" Jen said. Jen caught sight of the clock on the wall. "Sorry Jo, but I've got to go."
"Alright," Joey said. "Thanks for all your help."
"No problem," Jen said. "Good luck tonight."
"Thanks," Joey said.
"By the way, where are you guys going?" Jen asked.
"I still don't know. Pacey said he wanted it to be a surprise," Joey said rolling her eyes.
Joey paced back and forth in her living room. She nervously glanced at the clock. Pacey will be here in five minutes, she thought to herself. She played with her fingers nervously as she glanced down at her outfit. She was wearing a tan skirt with a woolen white tank. Maybe she should change. Or maybe she should put her hair up instead. Get a grip, girl, Joey told herself. This is just a regular night. You've been out with Pacey a lot of times. It's no big deal. Just relax. Breathe in. Breath out.
Joey glanced at the clock again. Three minutes to go. She can't believe that she was actually going out with Pacey. All signs pointed out that this was wrong. She almost canceled her date with Pacey, but Jen wouldn't let her. Joey was glad she hadn't canceled. She was extremely nervous, but at the same time excited. She loved being with Pacey. There were times when she would just want to hit him and yell at him, but there were other times when all she wanted was for him to hold her and kiss her. Either way, Pacey drove her crazy. She loved every side he brought out in her and she loved every side she brought out in him.
The doorbell rang and Joey's hand started to get all clammy again. She made her way to the door. She took a deep breath before she opened the door. A smile instantly spread across her face as she saw Pacey standing at the doorway.
"Hi beautiful," Pacey said as he bent down and planted a kiss on Joey's lips.
Joey's whole body began to tingle as she felt Pacey's lips on hers.
"Hi," she said with a smile.
"You ready?" Pacey asked.
"Yeah, let's go," Joey said and closed to door behind her.
They walked hand in hand to Pacey's truck. Pacey opened the door for Joey and Joey's face lit up as she found a single rose on her seat. She picked it up and smelled it. She gave Pacey another smile before she hoped inside. Pacey closed the door and made his way around the truck and into the driver's seat.
"So, where to?" Joey asked Pacey.
"You'll see," Pacey said.
"Oh come on Pacey," Joey whined. "Tell me!"
"Sorry, but there is something that I can tell you," Pacey said.
"Really? What's that?" Joey asked eagerly.
"That you're going to be blindfolded," Pacey said as he pulled out a handkerchief.
Joey groaned. "This better be worth it, Witter," she said as Pacey tied the cloth around her head.
"Don't worry," he said. "It will."
Joey felt the truck pull to a stop. Joey couldn't see, but there was something oddly familiar about the smell of the place. Joey heard Pacey get out of the truck and waited for him to get her out. She heard the ‘click' from door and felt Pacey pull her out.
"Can I take this off now?" Joey asked.
"In a minute," Pacey said. He took Joey's hand and lead her to the right spot. "Alright, now," he said as he took off the blindfold.
Joey opened her eyes. She couldn't believe where she was. She was at the Icehouse. But strangely enough, this place looked nothing like the Icehouse. It was decorated all over with glowing white lights. There was a small table in the middle table with a lacy white cloth over it. Two places were set up on the table and a beautiful arrangement of flowers sat at the center.
"Oh, wow, Pacey," Joey said breathlessly.
"You like it?" Pacey asked.
"It's beautiful," Joey said. She and Pacey made their way to the table. Pacey pulled out a chair for her and she sat down. Pacey sat across from her.
"May I take your order?" Joey heard a familiar voice say.
She looked up and her eyes grew wide with surprise.
"Jen?" she exclaimed.
"Good evening Ms. Potter," she greeted.
"You. . . you knew about this?" Joey asked.
"Yup," Jen said.
"Well, why didn't you tell me?" Joey exclaimed.
"I swore to your date over there that I wouldn't," Jen said smiling.
Joey couldn't help but smile herself. "Pacey, you are full of surprises."
"I'll take that as a compliment," Pacey said.
Joey looked down at her menu. "Wait a minute, this isn't the Icehouse's menu," she said.
"I know," Jen said. "Pacey made Bessie and me make up a whole new one, just for this occasion," Jen said rolling her eyes.
Joey looked at Pacey. "Really? You made them do that for me- Wait a minute. Did you just say Bessie?" Joey asked.
"Hey Jo!" Bessie cried, waving from behind the counter.
Joey glared at Pacey. "So tell me, Pacey. Who doesn't know about this?"
"Don't worry, Jo. That's the last of ‘em," he assured her.
"So, as I was saying," Jen interrupted, clearing her throat. "May I take your order?"
"Oh, right! Sorry to keep you waiting, Ms. Lindley," Joey said. She and Pacey quickly scanned the menu and decided on their orders.
"They'll be here shortly," Jen announced as she returned to the kitchen.
Joey watched Jen leave and reached over for Pacey's hand.
"Pacey," she said in a sweet voice. "I don't know whether to be gushing on how romantic this place looks right now and how much work you put into this night, or kill you for inviting Jen and my sister to witness our first date."
"Don't worry Jo. I'll guarantee that you'll love this evening," Pacey said with a smile.
"Oh I better," Joey warned.
God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You by ‘N Sync, starts playing)
Pacey glanced at the stereo, then back at Joey. He got up from his seat and walked over to her.
"Will you dance with me, Ms. Potter?" he asked offering his hand.
A small smile spread across Joey's face. "Yes, I'd love to."
They made their way to a cleared space and started swaying to the music.
Never thought that love feel like this
And you changed world with just one kiss
How can it be that right her with me
There's an angel
It's a miracle
Joey rested her head on Pacey's shoulder. She listened to the lyrics of the song and realized that the words in the song echoed her thoughts exactly. Being with Pacey and everything just felt unreal. There weren't any words that could describe how she felt but she knew that she loved the feeling. Every time that she was with him, she felt totally different. She looked up at her prince and realized that he was looking at her. She smiled and leaned up to place a soft kiss on his lips. "Not that I'm complaining or anything, but what was that for?" Pacey asked.
"Nothing," she sighed as she smiled at Pacey.
"Well, do you feel like doing nothing again?" he asked.
"Do you even have to ask?" she questioned.
"I guess not," he whispered just before their lips met.
Joey's heart sighed as she and Pacey swayed to the music beneath the milky twilight. There was no doubt about it. She was falling for Pacey, and fast.

"So, what movie do you guys want to see?" Pacey asked.
Pacey, Joey, Jen and Jack were standing outside Capeside's movie theater, staring at the long list of movies displayed outside the building.
"Blair Witch," Jen said instantly. "I still haven't seen that yet, and I'm dying to."
"I don't think so," Joey said, her eyes wide.
"What about Blue Streak?" Jack suggested.
"Not in the mood for a comedy," Jen said.
"Okay then, what about Double Jeopardy?" Pacey asked.
"I heard it wasn't too good," Jack said.
"Oh, what do the critics know?" Pacey growled.
"Drive Me Crazy?" Joey suggested.
Everyone stared at Joey.
"Since when have you been a fan of romantic comedies?" Jack asked.
"I'm not. It's just that there's nothing else-"
"Oh! Three Kings!" Jen suddenly exclaimed. "We have to see that!"
"I'm okay with that," Joey said.
"I'm game," Pacey agreed.
"Me too," Jack said. "Finally! Let's hurry and buy our tickets."
The group of friends bought their tickets and make their way inside the theater. Jen looked at her watch.
"Great," Jen said unenthusiastically. "The movie starts in ten minutes and there's a huge line at the snack bar."
"You're right," Pacey said after looking at his own watch and glancing at the long line. "Tell you what, you and Jack go ahead and save us some seats, and Joey and I will stay here and get the snacks."
"We will?" Joey asked.
"We will," Pacey said firmly.
"But I want to go see the movie," Joey complained. "Why me?"
"Because I want to spend more time with you, darling," Pacey said with mock sweetness as he reached his hand over to touch Joey's hair.
Joey instantly moved back. "Take one step closer and your arm's coming off," Joey warned.
Jack laughed. "Come on Jen. Let's go find our seats. I don't want to get blood all over me."
"I'm with you on that," Jen said. Jen grabbed Jack's arm and pulled him towards the theater door.
"Come on Pacey," Joey said, pushing Pacey towards the growing line. "Let's hurry up and get the food. I don't want to miss anything."
"Why? Is it because you don't want to miss George Clooney on screen?" Pacey teased.
"Bite me, Pacey," Joey said.
"Gladly," Pacey said, moving his head towards Joey.
Joey pushed Pacey back. "Not in public, Pacey. I don't want people to know that I actually like you," she said.
Pacey's face instantly broke out in a sly grin. "So, you like me, eh, Ms. Potter?"
"Well, I'd like to kill you," Joey said playfully.
Pacey pulled Joey into his arms and placed his head one inch from her's. "Are you sure about that, Ms. Potter?" he asked.
Joey's guard instantly let down as the closeness to Pacey instantly made her head spin. "Well...I...uh...."
Pacey didn't wait for Joey to answer and he gave Joey a soft kiss on the lips.
"So, do you like me now?" Pacey asked again.
Joey couldn't resist the temptation anymore. "Just shut up Pacey," she said as she pressed her lips against Pacey's. Joey forgot that she was in public and her kiss with Pacey deepened.
"Oh my God! What the hell is going on here?" a voice suddenly boomed out from behind them.
Joey and Pacey instantly broke apart.
"Jack!" Joey exclaimed.
"Jack," Pacey repeated.
