In the dance I had power. In the dance I was beautiful. I saw delight in the eyes of men. I heard gasps of admiration. The dancing of a slave is a thousand times more sensuous than that of a free woman because of the incredible meanings involved, the additional richness which this furnishes, the explosive significance of this comprehension, that she who dances is owned, and, theoretically, could be owned by you.
This speaks of reality and savagery, of ferocity, and beauty and barbarism, and of the fundamental meaningfulness of the male/female relationship, that of master to slave.
The dancing of the female before the male, that she be found pleasing and he be pleased, is one of the most profound lessons in all of human biology.
I was ready even at that time, as I now realize, to have the relentless torches of men set to the tinder in my belly, that slave fires might be lit there, thence by service, submission and love, my condition as slave, and the commands and touches of men, to be fanned, whether I willed it or not, to my dismay and joy, into open conflagrations.

greetings lovely sa~fora!
Welcome to the basic dance class.
In this class we will go over several basic concepts such as to why we dance, what is dance, how to outline a dance, coloring a dance with emotion and movement, and go over a few helpful tips that can take alot of the fear away from performing Gorean dance.
*smiles*
Dance is something that is very very dear to this slavegirl's heart. sahira hopes that you too will find the secret dancer within and set her free.
What is dance?
Dance is, the language of movement that can tell a story, for example, a capture dance will portray a slavegirl's experience at being captured by a Master. The girl's movements will show her being bound, submitting, perhaps being chased, and will also portray the spectrum of feelings that will be aroused. Fear, dread, thrill of the chase, naivete' and finally acceptance and love.
Sometimes dance has no set story. It is freestyle and inspired by a girl's Master, or the beauty of her surroundings, a feeling, anything the mind and heart can conjure up.
Traditional Gorean dances from the books most often tell a story and since the set dance for the upcoming Fair is a "book" dance, we will focus on that style.
Dance is graceful, provocative, sensual and artful.
Dance is not masturbation to music. Goreans expect more. They will see into your soul and demand that something of perfect beauty and intelligence is performed for Their pleasure.
Any girl can fondle herself into a dripping frenzy. (think about it...ick!)
A kajira will build up to a frenzy (without the dripping genitals)
..teasing and taunting with style and imagination, even humor... leaving a little to the Free's imagination instead of simply furring to music. A good dance will linger in the mind and heart and should leave a bit of mystery too. Make Them wonder....... Leave Them hungry......
Dance is a balanced relationship of movement and music. The dancer works with the music and becomes one with the music. Even if that music is simply the beating of her heart, or the chime of bells at her ankle.
Never ever steal a dance from your sisters! The heart and soul that is poured out in the dance is to be respected. Goreans will know the difference in writing style and woe to the slavegirl who tries to fool a Gorean. Ask for help, ask permission to do a variation on a dance, but please, use your own creativity. All dancers are beautiful because each dancer is unique. sahira has yet to meet a kajirae who was not willing to help out.
Now, why do we dance?
Then I knew I did not want to dance poorly. Out there were men, real men, many of whom excited and stirred me, even in my virgin's belly. I could scarcely imagine what it might be to be helpless in their arms, and at their power, as a slave. I was desperately eager to please such men. Dancer of Gor, page 192
We dance to please our Masters. We dance to show the fire and spirit that lives in our bellies. The dance is the unspoken language of motion portraying our needs and desires, hopes, joys and fears. We dance because we have been trained to feel deeply and it may please our Gorean Masters to see every emotion, every subtle and not so subtle gesture. We dance our slavery and our surrender, even if that surrender is mingled with struggle.
Motion and emotion. How to describe. When you dance, you are painting a picture and the details must be first realistic, and second, convey feeling.
How in the heck do you do that?
Well.. let's start with a simple exercise in describing body movements alone, without emotion. Just the body movements.
Please rise and stand from your position of learning and describe every nuance of the body as you do so. Starting with _________.
*grins*
Makes ya think of your body in a whole new light eh?
What muscles work together? Which ones flex and tighten as another set releases? What is your body doing first?
sahira strongly suggests taking time in r/t to practice positions before a mirror and watch precisely how your body moves. This will help you in your descriptions.
While feats of great daring are not unknown on Gor, it is not suggested to do movements in dance that you can't do r/t. Dance your dance r/t. See how it flows and where one movement might ease into another.
sahira has been known to blast exotic music r/t and dance around the room when writing dances. Call her crazy but one learned, and had a great time as well.
*giggles*
Questions?
okay!
next excercise...incorporating emotion...
You come into the Inn as fast as you can..seeing that a certain Master that makes your belly burn like no other is there. The Master whose collar you see in your dreams. You script out your best, most sensual and beautiful entrance. By the time you see it appear on the screen, a FW has entered and to your great surprise..you read that Master Hot Stuff has proposed to Her. He has even gone so far..so enamored by this vision in veils, that He promises to never ever utilize slaves for His pleasure again, because it drives Her nuts with envy and jealousy.
Now, what is your first knee jerk reaction?
Describe exactly how you feel. The whole range of emotions. Let it spill out of you.
starting with __________.
Do your cheeks scald in seething rage?
Do you clench your teeth in silent anger?
Does your bloodpressure rise to send your blood to boil in your veins?
Or do hot tears simply course down your cheeks as sadness washes over every part of your heart?
Do you feel the hot flush of shame as your heart hammers in guilt that you should be feeling joy for One you love instead of anger?
The key to creating a dance is to infuse the physical movements with feeling so that the readers can feel and see all that you describe.
Use a thesaurus. Use spellcheck. Watch your tense and check for overuse of words like her, she, and, an, and any other words that seems to repeat too much throughout your dance.
In dance competitions there is usually a set criteria and it almost always incorporates spelling, tense, overuse of words, number of posts, flow, Gorean content and actual dance movements.
How to outline a dance.
A Gorean dance is broken down like this.
beginning
(your entrance, moving to the Sandpit, description of the dancer, setting the mood)
buildup
(setting the plot or story, actual dance movements, teasing and tempting but not quite at the pinnacle yet, you are building tension and energy)
climax
(this is where you go all out..the height of your emotions are displayed here, high energy, this is where you really grab the attention of the Free)
ending
(wind down, or end it with a BANG! the ending needs to be clear either way)
Number of posts for a dance. No less than 6 no more than 12. Some dances like the sa~eela are longer. The number is up to you, ultimately.
You don't want to seem lazy but you don't want to put the Free to sleep either. Find the balance and if your dances seem wordy or not spicy enough, ask a sister for help.
sahira cannot stress enough how important it is to create an outline. Especially doing a book dance. Goreans will have read the books and will know what specific emotions and movements that are to be encompassed in a given dance. Go to le~ala's pages and read the dance first. Know the nature of the dance you are to perform. Create an outline. Write specific notes like in post 3 kajira puts a talender in her hair or post 10 kajira incorporates a larma.
sahira uses this outline process for every single traditional Gorean dance. Even if those dances seem a bit vague in the Norman scrolls.
Utilize your sisters. If you admire a certain girl's dancing, ask her for help. There's a darn good chance she does the same of another. We are all here for each other.
The fear factor.
Sooooooo many girls are so afraid they convince themselves they can't dance.
If a girl is prepared, has worked hard on her dance, has proofread it and gone over it again and again and worked with her sisters... then there is little to fear .
Stagefright yes, the unfamiliarity of dancing before Men for the first time, of course. But never doubt that you are beautiful. Dance has a funny way of bringing the exquisite heart and soul of a kajira to the forefront. That is true beauty. That which shines within. Be proud of the art you have created for the pleasure of Men. Let your slave fire shine bright and melt unnecessary fear away.
You might always feel a little nervous before dancing... but sisters, once you have danced before Men, you will sense your power and you will yearn to bare your soul before Gorean Men. You will feel stirrings in that slavebelly like never before.
Restrictions....
White silks keep the silks on. No nudity. All restrictions apply in dance and it is a challenge to create a dance within white silk parameters.
But that doesn't mean you can't describe the feeling of being naked. Gorean Men have an uncanny way of making a kajira feel "more naked than naked" with a mere look.
Props...
There is a costume trunk availible that has every possible prop imaginable. Make use of it. *smiles*
Okay! Any other questions?
sahira has created a dance cork for you to post dances to if you would like help. Questions, comments and quotes are more than welcome.
Dance well beautiful kajirae!
and do not hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
Class is dismissed!
