Info
Built October 1984, one of the last JB's built before the introduction of the JD Camira in Novmember 1984. The car when it first came out in 1982 one car of the year and soon became Australia's best selling small car.
The car was brought on the 30th of Novmember 1998 for a very cheap $800. The car is in tip top condition and surprisingly doesn't blow smoke! Yes it's true! Belive it or not but this is the worlds first non smoke blowing Camira. I think this is due to the previous owner having had this trouble and doing a rebuild. All rust has been removed and it has a had a respray.
The interior of the car is fitted out in a nice blue velour trim and is spotless to the hard work I put into the car with cleaning it. Only has a texta mark in the steering wheel pad which I am replacing.
One of the coolest features found on my car and all other Holdens at the time is the Vacum gadge. For all who don't know what a vacum gadge is it is similar to a tacho which measures engine RPM, but this measures roughly how much fuel the motor is using. So for hooning around the needle sits in the red and it looks very cool but when you are in non hooning mood the needle sits in the non power mood.
Over all the car is in very good condition for the price paid for it. There are still alot of little things that I need to do to it before I can put it on the road. For example new front tyres (No I haven't being having fun with them) and also a new windscreen due to dumbness of the previous owner not bothering to replace the windsreen wiper blade when the rubber was gone hence leaving a slight scratch mark.
If you have the means to pick one up I do suggest that you do
It is so choice!
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!
The Camira is getting some lovin. Recently the mighty Camira got a hand breathing, it now runs a 2" exhust straight through from manifold back into only one muffler. Needless to say now that I have heaps more torque.
Another great thing that happened in it's journeys was that it got SL/E mags fitted for a meer $170 with excellent P6000 tyres on it. It holds on so well now, no more sliding across the road!!!!
After these major improvments the JB went on a little vacation in 35 degree heat to Lakes Entrance a meer 4 1/2 hours away. The car didn't hesitate, Only a camira can take that kind of punishment!
After putting those SL/E mags on it has turned into a beasty looking car. I can say that there is not one like it around anyway. if there is let me see it!
But the biggest news is that soon it will be getting lowered. It sits too high now and the low profile tryes shows it too much. So it will be getting some Whiteline springs with koni shocks that will drop it 1 1/2" from standed which will look awsome as you can see by my handy work with PSP4.
Next on the cards is to replace the guttsy 1.6 Carbie motor with the JE Camira 2.0L injected motor. That will be an instant increase in 20 kws taking it to 85Kws. But thats not all!!! After seeing a article in Zoom magazine where they worked a JE Camira by simply replacing the cam, bigger exhust and chip in the computer they got 110Kws. This shall be achieved in my JB with that motor but thats not all folks! They also informed us that the 4AGZE Supercharger fits onto that motor! Oh yeah!!!
Just think what I'll do next!!!!
