I would say, Ramses, that hand signs aren't all that effective on-line. Too easy to get lost in the typing. Think of real life. We occasionally use hand signs to indicate something when we or someone else are speaking, but mostly, to be clear, we vocalize what we want

~chuckling~ There are other kinds? Seriously, Master Ramses, flicka has been trained to respond to hand signals, some are O/our personal ones, but Jarl Keeper will use the "open hand at the waist" if He wants flicka to fall into position for leading, for example.
Perhaps the reason they are not so often used, is that both Master and slave must know the signals, and that would be perhaps something that some Masters would not wish to learn.

I am a strong believer in hand signals.. however they must be taught as well, I yet to see any Tavern, House, or home teach their slaves such, just the privately owned ones.. I myself had taught and trained those I owned hand signals and used them quite often.. to me it keeps a slave better in tune to themselves and pay attention to my wants as well as they doing everything they can to be found pleasing.. which after all, is what a slave strives for

~pondering~ Master Ramses, yes it does deepen the bond, when Jarl Keeper uses a hand signal something goes flippety flop in a girl's tummy. Perhaps it is because by removing vocalisation it further lowers a girl's position, in that she becomes more of an animal. By the non use of words, He is indicating that flicka does not warrant words and is not to use words, that she is to accept her place as bondsmaid, slave, collared by Him and nothing more.
Sorry that was convoluted, but hopefully people will understand what flicka is trying to say.

A girl's Jarl naturally takes precedence over Any other Master, but Jarl Keeper has the courtesy to offer flicka's services to other Masters especially any Free Man who is new to our home. Well, I have noticed that the slaves offer to serve in order of rank, just as they are careful to greet in order of rank. I can't locate it just now, but was under the impression the greeting order also was the serving order. And also that Free Women were not served until all Free Men had been served.

Maybe it is perception, like when the room goes deathly quiet, and people perceive that a lot of PMs are happening, but They are not being Pmed.
This is in part why we in slave class are told that we must always ask permission to PM, a major reason for this is so that others in the room will know that a private conversation is occurring.
