Rossa Spider Details

The Body

Once Carlos finished the body and corrected the original kit lines and shape he made perfect moulds of the body panels. The panels that come out of these moulds are perfect. Most of the panels have the mounting holes so they line up with the original Fiero mounting holes. He did this in case he was ever in an  accident. Now he can make his own panels.

The Windshield

If you look closely you will notice that the windshield has more of a curve than a Fiero. Almost exactly the same as a Testarossa. It is glass from a very popular car and cost only about $150.00. The wiper pivots are simply removed and relocated in a new panel further forward and under the hood.

The Appearance

Look at the lower rocker panel below the doors. This is a solid piece from front to back. This panel is usually a dead give away when identifying kits. He used a piece of metal for this to add some strength in the build. The headlights are of the last model year style, under plexiglass. Have a look at the 3rd brake light set into the engine cover panel.

The Roof

This convertible top is unique too. Most are really cheap and leak water most of the time. This top was made with most of the Fiero roof. The rear window frame was used and then hinged so it will fold down. This way the door glass will seal perfectly because it still uses all the original weather-stripping. The top panel is removed and stored behind the seats while the rear section of the roof folds down. Look at the pictures again.

The Frame

This kit requires a 7 inch frame stretch. The reinforcement of the frame in more than necessary. The way that this stretch was done it has virtually no flex whatsoever. Some companies out there instruct that the frame stretch include the engine cradle. This is not needed and weakens one of the most stressful areas of the car. To overcome this we simply relocate the front cradle mount to 7 inches reward. You can still use the original cradle mount to bolt on this extension then add in an extra support to the new stretch plate. Here is a picture of the 5 inch stretch I did on my Countach. Stretch Look just above the 4X4 wood post. I wrote the word 'support' on the bracket.
