Meridiana's New Ally

"I know that you like to travel and that you never stay in one place," she began, "But how would you like to stay in Meridiana for a while, with me... your sister?"
Kayla looked at the ground, thinking. Then she smiled shyly and shook Cybersix's hand. "I'd like that," she replied, "Very much."

Cybersix embraced Kayla tightly, not caring that her tears were streaming down her face. Data 7 did not show as much enthusiasm but did politely lick Kayla's face. They had found a powerful ally, but much more: a cyber, a sister, a friend.
From that point on, Kayla was one of them.

The next night, when most of Meridiana were safely tucked in their bed, not knowing of the constant battles being fought outside, black shadows were illuminated in the moon. They leapt over buildings, defied gravity, and possessed the speed and grace dreamt by poets.

One was who many knew well and trusted.

One was of a cat, with a perfect combination of grace and power.


And now there was a third: Kayla. The 338th Cyber.

Meridiana was no longer the city of the damned. Now it had guardians, guardians like the stone angel who watched over the little town. Guardians who would defend humanity to the point of their death. And as the trio watched the moon sail across the night sky, it truly seemed that terror- Von Reichter, monsters, loneliness- was rendered powerless against their combined strength. Or was it?
