Introduction to the Order of the Crimson Knights.
I.) Order Charter
Our members come from all races and walks of life, young and old, male and female, but all
sharing common goals. All who are part of us follow the Orders Laws.
Ours is a group founded on the principles of the legendary knights of old. Honor, Duty, and
Valor. These virtues we hold sacred. through our words and deeds we champion the cause
of good throughout all the land. If diplomacy should fail, our blades and spells will guide our
course.
II.) Universal Order Laws
The Crimson Knights exist across many different Castles and realms but these Universal Laws
apply equally to all places that we frequent. Every Crimson Knight will hold themselves to
these Universal Laws of conduct.
1. I shall not cause another sole harm through word or action, or through inaction allow
others to harm another being. I shall treat other life with respect and courtesy.
2. Through my actions Ishall be a figurehead of the Order, My actions represent A/all within the order
3. I shall not engage in behavior or actions deemed anti-social
III. Virtues of Knighthood
There are many places where compromise is expected, the Virtues are not amongst them.
Although the Virtues are ideas that are heavily borrowed from Ultima-lore, they can be
universally applied. No matter what Castle/Realm a Crimson Knight is involved in, they would
be well suited to try and follow these basic virtues.
Honor:
Duty:
Valor:
Justice:
Sacrifice:
Spirituality:
Humility:
Compassion:
Honesty:
IV. Anti-Social Behavior
All members are expected to know what is considered anti-social behavior for their present
environment, and to always act with honor as is befitting of a Crimson Knight both in dealing
with others who are anti-social and in refraining from such activity themselves.
Ours is a group founded on the principles of the legendary knights of old. Duty, Honor, Valor.. These
virtues we hold sacred. Through our words and deeds we champion the cause of good throughout all
the land. If diplomacy should fail, our blades and spells guide our course.
"Never has their been a perfect knight. Knighthood is, by definition, an office that strives for a
distant ideal, a changing ideal, but one that seeks to emulate the ancient virtues associated
with chivalric office. Knights will by definition fail as they are human, but attain their grace in
the striving for virtue, for the perseverance of seeking to overcome the vanities of the body and
soul, to do what is 'right'. It is a striving for excellence even as we know that perfection is
beyond our grasp, but that fact alone does not allow us to stop in our quest for it. And this is
not a right conceived in each individual mind, but is rather a shared ideal of rightness that
resonates in the human breast with each beat of the heart. It is a 'rightness' that we as
human beings recognize intuitively, it is 'hardwired' into nearly all of us; that partially explains
why the ideal of knighthood still speaks to us after all this time." - Brian R. Price
This is the core virtue of the CK. It is helping your brethren or others in need to the
extent of your personal ability, and treating all equally and with respect. Seek great stature of
character by holding to the virtues and duties of a knight, realizing that though the ideals
cannot be reached, the quality of striving towards them ennobles the spirit, growing the
character from dust towards the heavens. Honor also has the tendency to influence others,
offering a compelling example of what can be done in the service of rightness.
The ideal knight was sworn by oath to defend his liege lord and those who depended
upon him. Seek always to defend your Order, Home, family, and those to whom you believe
worthy of loyalty. Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you choose
to live by.
Valor simply put is exhibiting bravery. To seek excellence in all endeavors expected of
a knight, martial and otherwise, seeking strength to be used in the service of justice, rather
than personal aggrandizement.
Preserving fairness and just treatment for all. Seek always the path of 'right'.
unencumbered by bias or personal interest. Recognize that the sword of justice can be a
terrible thing, seek the truth whenever possible but remember to temper justice with
compassion and mercy. Remember the pure truth can also bring great grief.
Being a knight often means choosing the more difficult path, the personally
expensive one, be it materialistic or spiritual. Be prepared to make personal sacrifices in
service of the ideals and people you value. Sacrifice requires great courage, and also means
taking the side of truth in all matters, rather than seeking the expedient lie. At the same time,
a knight should seek wisdom to see that stupidity and courage are cousins, and be able to
judge between the two.
This virtue transcends the physical world and it's limitations, delving into
something greater within oneself. A knight must have faith in their beliefs, for faith roots them
and gives hope against the despair that human failings create. This virtue is often
championed by our role-players, who add color and depth to our world.
Value first the contributions of others; do not boast of your own accomplishments,
let others do this for you. Tell the deeds of others before your own, according them the
renown rightfully earned through virtuous deeds. In this way the office of knighthood is well
done and glorified, helping not only the gentle spoken of but also all who call themselves
knights.
Be generous in so far as your resources allow; be it monitory, or simply being
supportive. Largesse used in this way counters gluttony. It also makes the path of mercy
easier to discern when a difficult decision of justice is required. Remember to view the issues
from both sides, for your vision may be impaired by a one sided view. Take the time to look at
the "Soul" inside the character. Base no judgments on the outer shell, for there may be a
worthy Person inside an evil shell, as easily as there may be an evil Person inside a good
shell.
Seek to emulate the Virtues as sincerely as possible, not for the reason of personal
gain but because it is right. Do not restrict your exploration to a small world, but seek to
infuse every aspect of your life with these qualities. Should you succeed in even a tiny
measure then you will be well remembered for your quality and virtue.
