"Oh my God, It's Elle Bradley," Nick exclaimed from the Backstreet Boys tour bus somewhere in the middle of Ohio.
"Congratulations Surlock on your fine ability of literacy," Kevin replied drowsily from the bunk above Nick's. "She's interviewing us after our tour. Don't you read anything other than the cover of crap that you make me buy at rest stops."
"No, you don't understand. I grew up with this girl in Jamestown. She was my best friend. We used to play Cavepeople in her basement."
"OH, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!" AJ yelled from the front bunk. "Play Cavepeople in her basement? Hmm...exactly how old were you when you turned caveman?"
"Oh shut up pervert. Unless you think it's wrong for 3rd graders to play stupid childhood games, I don't want to hear another word. Besides, Elle and I even dated in 5th grade."
"You woke me up for that?! Let me see that picture," AJ demanded.
"It's not a picture...it's a magazine cover," Nick said.
"That was probably the most intelligent thing that you have said all morning Nick," AJ said as he grabbed the magazine out of Nick's hands. "Whoa. This girl is hot. Why haven't we met her Nick?"
"Um, well," Nick stuttered. "Because you just haven't," he finally said, smiling to himself as though he had just completed the cure for AIDS.
"Sometimes, wait, everyday, I wonder about you," AJ commented.
"What are you guys doing? Whatever it is, you people make a lot of noise," Brian said as he sat up to see what all the commotion was about.
"Here Frick, check this out. Nick said as he tossed the magazine to Brian.
"All I see is a beautiful woman named Elle Bradley. What's the point?" Brian asked.
"The point is that I know that girl," Nick answered.
"Yeah, they used to play Cavepeople in her basement." AJ said as he laughed to himself.
"Well, let's read the interview," Brian said as he flipped to the Table of Contents and then to the cover story about Elle Bradley. After a few minutes of reading to himself, Brian stopped and began to read out-loud. "Check this out," he said. "Elle's parents were both killed in a car accident 4 months ago when Elle was just turning 19, leaving her to raise her 12-year-old sister by herself. Talk about a tough break."
"Oh my God," Nick yelled waking up Howie. "That happened to Elle's parents and I didn't know. I didn't even call or write or ANYTHING after I joined the Backstreet Boys. I wonder if she's mad at me?"
"Well, you have 19 days until you find out," Brian said. "She's conducting our "End of Tour" interview."
"Give me that," Nick demanded as he grabbed the magazine from Brian. With that, he began reading the interview. "I have a lot of catching up to do," Nick thought to himself.
