Chapter Three

"If you grew up with him, how come I have never met you?" Brian asked.

" I think we need to talk. But first, I need to go to the entrance and let my over-protective brother know before he has the police searching for me."

Brian pushed me to the entrance and I explained to my brother about everything. Of course Keith didn't want Brian to bring me home because he was a stranger but because I am 18 I convinced him. We went to a park where we were sure Brian wouldn't get noticed for being a Backstreet Boy.

" OK, well I'll just start from the beginning. Nick moved near me when he was about 7. From then on till he left for the group we were as close as could be. For about a year we kept in touch, but then you guys went to Europe. Of course I was excited for Nick, and I was only 13. By the time I was 16 Nick and I talked to each other just during Christmas that year. And this is where the nightmares begin..."

" It's OK, take your time hun." I smiled gratefully at Brian.

" My parents and I were driving home from my dance competition. Keith had left early to celebrate his anniversary with his girlfriend so he wasn't in the car. Thank God for that. Everything was great, I had gotten first place in all of solos, and the next morning I had tryouts for this elite dance group. One minute I'm in the back seat thinking that all of my dreams were coming true and I couldn't be happier. The next I hear a loud crash then blackness. A drunk driver had hit us head on. The guy was in a truck, the crash killed my Mom instently. My..." Tears welled my eyes and I swallowed a lump in my throat. " My father died on the way to the hospital and I-I...well I was paralyzed from the waist down. They said it was permanent but I've been proving everyone wrong. I'm able to stand on my own with some help. And by next year, I'm going to be dancing again." I pulled a small smile.

" Wow. I'm sorry to hear about your parents. And as long as you believe you'll be dancing, you will be."

" Thank you. The thing that has always bothered me, was that I never heard from Nick once through all of this. Its like I needed him the most and he wasn't there. I had the nurses get a hold of him but I heard nothing back. So I figured he just didn't care."

" Wait a minute....is your real/full name Anastasia?"

" Yeah, I tell people Stacey cause that's what they end up calling me any way. Nick always called me Anastacia though. He said my name was too 'awesome' to shorten it."

" Someone told him that you died in the crash. That your whole family did. And his parents thought so too. Man, Nick was devastated for 2 years after he heard that."

" He didn't recognize me though."

" I think he thought you looked really familiar, but it took so long to get it through his head you were gone. He didn't want to admit to it. And management wouldn't let him go back home to the funeral. So its going to take some convincing its really you."

"Well, do you think you could have him come to my house tonight? My brother is going out any way. You could come too."

" Of course I will. Do you want me to explain to him about our conversation?"

" Yeah, it might be best if he hears it from you first. Are you two best friends?"

" Yeah, he's my F-"

" I know, he's your Frack. I've been keeping up to date on this whole BSB thing. And your his Frick." We both laughed and went to Brian's car.

" Brian I want to thank you so much for talking to me. I can't believe I'm actually going to see Nick. And have him actually know its his old best friend."

" Don't mention it. You're really cool. And I hope we become better friends. I better get home and talk to Nick about all of this."

" Alright, so I'll see you around 7?"

" Yep. Bye"

" Later." He drove me home and by 3 Brian left.

The whole way home he was thinking of how to tell Nick about me. Wondering on how he was going to take it. Is it going to be good or bad news to Nick?
