Chapter Twenty-Eight

It was almost six when we got to our floor.

"I just want to sleep." Brian mumbled.

"Sorry Bri but you have to leave in about 15 minutes for a concert tonight."

He groaned and walked to his room.

"Hey Stace?"

"Yeah?" I looked up from digging into my purse. He walked over to me and gave me a hug.

" Thanks again." He kissed my cheek and walked into his room. When his soft lips kissed my cheek I felt my heart beat faster. Why that happened, I'm not sure? I walked into my room to see Nick in the bathroom brushing his teeth in his towel.

" Anastasia! I thought you said you-"

" I know, we lost track of time talking."

" Is Brian OK?"

" In time he will be. I'm sure he'll tell you all about it after the concert." Nick walked into the bathroom to get dressed. When he came out he had a confused, almost sad look on his face.

"Sweetie what's wrong?" I asked wrapping my arms around his waist.

"Brian and I tell each other everything, or at least we use to."

"He needed time to think. The only reason why he told me was because we were in a secluded place. He was in a vulnerable state. He's going to need you tonight. Even though the concert will put him in a better mood. He's hurting a lot in the inside." Nick sighed and thought for a moment.

" You always know the right things to say. You always have since the day I met you." I smiled.

" Go get ready Carter." I smacked his but.

" OK, OK." He laughed.

~*~At the concert~*~

"Backstreet's back, alright!" The guys finished the song and ran under the stage.

"Geez Brian your voice sucks tonight." Rebecca said walking past him.

" Yeah well your dancing sucks all the time." He shot back at her and finished his water. Brian ignored her evil glare and wiped his face with a towel. "Only one more hour." He told himself. He knew everyone was concerned about him. Especially Nick. Brian couldn't think of anything he had ever kept from the guys. Brian took a deep breath and it was shaky.

" Frick, man. Look I know you'll come to me eventually if you need to. Just tell me one thing. Your healthy right? No problems with the heart?"

Brian kept quiet. The truth was his heart was hurting. Without thinking he yelled out "No my heart is not OK!" With that he ran back to the entrance. Nick turned pale.

" Nick, we'll talk to him after the show. Come on." Howie put a comforting around Nick and walked out on the stage.

I noticed Brian come out a head of the guys. They each had their own facial expressions. Brian looked more upset as if he were to break down in tears. Nick looked scared. His face was rather pale and his eyes locked on Brian. Howie smiled the whole time glancing from Nick to Brian. Kevin looked frustrated and A.J., well he was just having a good time.
