Part Two--Chapters 4-6

Chapter 4

Apart from only a handful of people, Priscilla was the only one at the pool swimming aimlessly, thoughts swirling around and around her head. Thank God the pool's not so crowded. I guess everyone must be eating dinner or something. Too bad Arlene's not here. She hates the crowd, so this would have been perfect for her. Then again, she and Brian are probably cozying up right about now. God she is sssooooooo lucky! I can't believe we finally met Brian, and to top it off, he looks as if he has a crush on her! But I'm so jealous. When is it gonna be my turn for my dreams to come true? When... She wasn't able to finish her thought because she suddenly crashed into another person that had been swimming towards her. She hadn't seen this person at all since she had been thinking so hard.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't see where I was going. Are you ok?" asks Priscilla. When the person stood up she could see that it was a guy and he had goggles on, so she couldn't really tell who it was.

"No, I'm the one who should be sorry. I was kind of distracted so I didn't see you." "I guess we're both to blame, huh?" They both laugh. Damn, she is so pretty. So far, she hasn't recognized me so that's kinda good. Must be the goggles, but I'm gonna have to take them off soon because they're getting all fogged up. I can barely see.

"Um, excuse me? Are you still there?" Priscilla jokingly says as she waves her hand across his face.

"Uh....yeah, sorry about that."

That voice.....it sounds so familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe I should ask him. What do I have to lose? "Hey, um, I know this is gonna sound weird but I feel as if I know you from somewhere. Have we met before?" asks Priscilla timidly.

Should I tell her? Ah, why not. If I wanna ask this girl out she has to know who I am first. "Maybe you have seen me somewhere. Here, let me take off my goggles."

So Nick slowly takes off his goggles. As he does, Priscilla gives out a sharp gasp.

"Oh...my...God............it's........it's..........you......." Priscilla utters out softly.

Brian is humming softly as he is getting dressed for his date. Suddenly, he realizes what he is doing and mentally slaps himself. I'm humming before going on a date? I've never done that before. But there is something about this girl.....something special. I don't think I've ever felt like this before. Could it be that...no, I can't have just fallen for a girl that I've just met. Brian shakes his head at this. He takes a peek at himself in the mirror and laughs. "That bump looks horrible, but maybe.....just maybe, this was meant to be," he softly says. Well, it's almost time. Might as well go early. Don't want to keep her waiting. With that, he makes one final check to see if he has everything he needs and goes out the door.

"I guess you do know me huh?" Nick asks warmly. Priscilla blushes.

"I'm sorry I did that. It's just that......well......I never really thought I would actually meet you someday."

"It's ok. In fact, I'm kinda glad that we bumped into each. Otherwise, we might have never met," Nick says sincerely. Damn, did I just say that? She blushes again and giggles. Oh, great, now he is gonna think I'm an airhead or something.

"Say, uh, I don't suppose you would want to um, have dinner with me tonight?" Nick asks shyly.

What?! Did he say what I think he said?? He's asking me out?!!!! Why is he still looking at me? Oh, he's waiting for my response. Duh. "I'd love to have dinner with you, Nick!" He lets out a sigh of relief and smiles. "Great! So, is 7:00 ok?"

"Yes, it's fine!"

"Great, then I guess I'll c-ya later!"

"Later!"

So then Nick turns around and half walks, half skips back towards his room. Priscilla starts jumping up and down excitedly. Wait 'till Arlene hears this! Which reminds me, I have to go to my room pronto and get dressed!! With this said, Priscilla starts running towards her room.

Chapter 5

When she is almost there, she sees that Brian is leaving his room. "Hey Brian!" Brian turns around, sees it's Priscilla, and gives her a warm smile.

"Hey Priscilla!"

"How's your head?"

"Oh, it's fine now, don't worry about it."

Suddenly, Priscilla notices that he is all dressed up. "Hey Brian, you going somewhere? You're all dressed up." Brian blushes.

"Well, actually, I'm sort of taking your friend out to dinner."

Priscilla looks at him with wide eyes. Alright Arlene! she mentally congratulates her friend.

"Really? That's great! I hope you two have fun. Actually, I'm on my way to my room. Can I accompany you?"

"Sure!"

As they are walking towards her room, Priscilla mentions, "Oh, by the way, while I was at the pool I happened to meet Nick!" Brian just forces a smile and says, "Oh really? That's nice." Priscilla doesn't notice his change in tone so she just continues.

"Yeah I know! Anyway, he asked me to go out with him tonight, so maybe we can go on a double date. What do you think?" Damn, I guess I'm gonna have to tell her about our little situation, Brian thinks to himself.

"Um, Priscilla, I don't want to be mean or anything but I really don't think it would be such a good idea."

"Why not?" asks Priscilla curiously.

"Well, you see, me and Nick are not really in good terms right now. We sort of had a fight earlier."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know."

"That's alright. I'm sure it will all blow over soon. Oh look, we have arrived!" says Brian, relieved to change the subject. I just wish I were as sure we will patch things up as I just said to her right now. Priscilla takes out her key, unlocks the door and goes in, followed by Brian.

"Hey Arlene! I'm back! Oh, and Brian's here too!" Arlene comes running out of her bedroom.

"Hey girl! Hey Brian! I'm ready to go!" she said excitedly.

Brian was just looking at her in a daze. Wow, she looks so beautiful in that black dress. I just wanna take her into my arms and never let go of her.

"Hello, Brian! Anyone home?" Arlene asks jokingly.

"Huh, what? Oh, sorry about that. I was just thinking about something," Brian says while blushing furiously.

"Hmm, I wonder about what," adds Priscilla with a smile. Brian again blushes.

"You know, I never knew you could turn into so many shades of red so fast!" Priscilla says while laughing. "Very funny. So Arlene, wanna go now before I kill your friend?" Brian manages to say. Priscilla playfully slaps him on the shoulder.

"Hey, I heard that! Oh, by the way Arlene, before you go, guess who I'm going out with tonight!!"

"You met someone? Who is it?" asks Arlene curiously.

"Nick Carter!!!"

"Your kidding, really?! Wow, this is so cool! I'm so happy for you!"

Arlene says as she gives her a hug.

"Thanks so much!"

Just then Brian clears his throat loudly. Both girls turn their heads to look at him, realize what they were doing, and blush. "Oh, um, I'm sorry about that. Arlene, you better go now. I have to get ready anyway for my date."

"Alright. Sorry Brian. Let's go."

"After you, my lady," Brian said in his best suave voice.

Arlene giggles and replies, "Why thank you kind sir." They both say their goodbyes to Priscilla and leave. Finally, now I can get ready for my date. Wow, who would have ever thought that I would be going out with Nick Carter tonight!!

"So Brian, what do you have planned for us?" asks Arlene.

"Well, I thought we'd have dinner. Is that ok?"

"Yeah, that's great! I'm starving!" she exclaims.

Suddenly, Brian has the urge to hold her hand. Should I? Go ahead B-rok! So he grabs her hand gently and is relieved to see that she accepts it. Yes! As they keep walking, many thoughts go through Arlene's head. Oh my God, he is actually holding my hand! I am so lucky to be going out with him. But I wonder if he really likes me, or if he is just doing this to repay me. Her thoughts are interrupted when Brian shouts out, "We're here. Let's go in!"

A waiter escorts them to a table that is right next to a window that overlooks the sea. He hands them their menus and after a couple of minutes of deciding they order. The waiter takes back the menus and leaves. They are completely alone...which is how they both like it. A band is playing soft music right across from them, the lights are dim.......the perfect romantic setting. As the night goes on, they chat all about their families, friends, etc. Brian even tells her about the fight he had earlier with Nick.

"Don't worry Brian, I'm sure it will all blow over soon."

"You think so?" Arlene then reaches out to touch his hand.

"I know so," she says reassuringly. Brian smiles.

"You know, I've never felt so comfortable with any other woman before," he shyly mentions.

"Really? Well, I must say that I've never felt so comfortable around another guy either." Especially one who happens to be a Backstreet Boy, she thinks to herself.

"Um, I know this may sound a little strong, but I think I like you.......a lot."

He likes me!!

".....oh Brian, I like you too," she says softly. Brian clears his throat nervously.

"No, I mean, I think I'm...I'm falling in love with you." Arlene opens her mouth in shock. "I know that we have just met today, but I am a strong believer in that you can experience love at first sight.....and I think that's how I felt when I first opened my eyes and saw you," he says softly. Then he suddenly gets an idea.

"Arlene, let me prove it to you. Wait here ok?"

"Ok, I guess..." she says, still in shock. She sees him walk up to the band players and sees him talking softly to them about something. No way. He's falling in love with me? Do I truly love him? Maybe we're moving way too fast, I mean, we just met earlier today. I'm so confused. Her thoughts are interrupted when she sees Brian get up on stage holding a microphone.

"I would like to dedicate this song, to a very special lady in the house. You know who you are."

He then starts singing "Anywhere For You" to her.

"I'd go anywhere for you
anywhere you asked me to
I'd do anything for you
anything you want me to..."

When he is done, he goes back to Arlene and sees that tears are streaming down her face.

"Brian, that was....." "Shh...."

He softly wipes away the tears from her face...they get closer...and closer...and they kiss...for a long time...

Chapter 6

Nick, meanwhile, is getting ready to go out with Priscilla. Damn, why am I so nervous? It's not like this is my first date or anything. Still, why do I feel so attracted to this girl? Everything time I think about her, I get this warm, fuzzy feeling inside of me. .....I wish Brian and I were still friends......he'd know what kind of advice to give me, he thinks sadly. Well, I know for sure that the next time I see him, I'm gonna apologize to him. It's about time we ended this stupid fight. He pushes all these thoughts away, makes one final check in the mirror, and leaves the room. When he gets to Priscilla's room, he knocks at her door. Priscilla immediately answers.

"Hi Nick! I'm all done!" He just looks at her in amazement. She is wearing a low cut black dress that shows of her killer legs perfectly.

"Um, you look very beautiful, Priscilla," he manages to "squeak" out.

She blushes. "Thanks Nick. You look very handsome yourself."

That is the understatement of the year, she thinks. "So um, you ready to go?" Nick asks.

"Yeah, I'm all set," she replies.

"Ok, let's go."

Nick holds out his arm, and Priscilla gratefully takes it, much to his relief.

"So, where are we going?"

"I don't really have anything planned, but, do you wanna go dance or something?" "Ok, sure! I'd love too!" she replies excitedly.

They walk to the other side of the ship to the dancing area. It's practically packed with people and the music is really pumping. Nick and Priscilla just get down with their bad selves.

"Hey Nick! You are such a great dancer!" she shouts.

"What?!" Nick asks, since the music is really loud. "I said, that YOU ARE A GREAT DANCER!!" she shouts again.

"Oh, thanks!" Nick replies shyly. "You're not so bad yourself!"

Just then, the song ends and Larger Than Life starts playing. Nick groans while Prisci just laughs.

"Gee, I wonder who's song that is," Priscilla says jokingly.

"Very funny."

"Nick, could you please sing along to that? I'd love to hear you!"

"Oh, do I have to?"

"Please?"

"Well, ok, but no laughing, and you have to dance with me as I sing."

"It's a deal!"

So Nick starts singing and dancing along to Larger Than Life.

"All you people
can't you see,
can't you see
How your love's
affecting our reality.
Everytime we're down
you can make it right
and that makes you
larger than life!"

Priscilla and him get so into it that they don't notice that everybody has formed a circle around them to watch. They start commenting about them.

"Wow, they're really good, especially that guy she's with," one girl says.

"He looks so familiar...."

"Wait a minute, isn't that....."

"OH MY GOD, IT'S NICK CARTER!"

That shoots the couple back to reality. "Uh, oh, I think they recognized you, Nick," says Prisci.

"I think this is a good time to RUN!" Nick shouts.

He grabs her hand and they somehow manage to get through the circle and out the doors. All the people start coming after them like raging cattle. Nick and Priscilla run like crazy in hopes of losing them. After a couple of minutes of running, they realize that they are not being chased anymore.

They both stop near the railing of the ship, gasping for breath.

"...I....I think......we lost them," Nick manages to say between breaths.

"Thank God...I thought...we would...never lose them..."

After a couple of minutes they both regain their breaths and start laughing at what had just happened.

"Did you see how one of those girls was all over you?"

"I know! She grabbed me from the back and almost made me fall down!"

"It was such a funny sight!"

"Yeah....."

They suddenly quiet down and look into each other's eyes.

"Well, even though that happened, I still had a wonderful time with you Nick, in fact, the best one ever."

"I had a nice time too. You sure knew how to move your body," he said smiling. Priscilla blushes and looks away, a sad look forming on her face. Nick, sensing that something is wrong, places his hands on her shoulders.

"Priscilla, what's wrong?" he asks in concern.

"Oh Nick......" She turns back to face him with tears in her eyes.

"Please tell me, it pains me to see you like this," he says. Priscilla chokes back a sob.

"Nick, this has been the best night of my life, and I hate for it to end."

"What do you mean? It's not like we won't go out again. I like being with you."

Oh man, this is so hard. How do I tell a guy that I just met that I love him....that I actually love him for HIM, not because he is a Backstreet Boy... She gathers up all her courage, and asks, "Nick, do you believe in love at first sight?"

He tenses up, then finally says, "Actually, I never really believed it........" Priscilla looks down, ashamed at what she has just said. I never should have said that. Now he knows how I really feel, and he doesn't feel the same way.... Nick gently lifts her face up again, and says softly, "...that is, until I met you..."

Priscilla gasps. "I guess what I'm trying to say........is that I....." He wasn't able to finish, for at that very moment, they feel the ship shake and in the process are forcefully thrown down.

"Ow!" Priscilla cries.

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I think so."

They both look around to see what happened. "What the......."

As the ship keeps sailing, they see with a shocked look a huge iceberg passing them by.
