Myths
I'm sure you have heard at least one thing about Wicca that may be good or it may be bad. Unfortunately it seems the bad myths are the most often heard. I just want to let you know what is true and what is false. Now please remember that different Wiccans think different ways or worship in their own ways so some of the information may not be true to you but could be true to me or another Wiccan.
First off Wicca is not Goth. There are no similarities between the two. I'm not saying, though, that Gothic people aren't Wiccan, they may well be but it has nothing to do with Goth. The fact that they dress in dark clothes and wear attention getting make up does not make them Wicca, it also does not make them devil worshippers (just had to throw that in there.) On that subject, Wiccans are not devil worshippers either. Some Wiccans, not all, do praise a God called the Horned God, but not as a devil figure more like a protector. Wicca is centered on what some call "White Magik" or the power of good. The most important lines of the Wiccan Rede center on bringing harm to NO ONE. "An ye harm none do what thou wilt" (or "ye will" depending on the version).
One thing that really gets me is the fact that people use Wicca as a fad (of course people do that to all religions but none so much as Wicca). Wiccans themselves use the religion as a fad. Teenage Witch is one of them that really annoys me (sorry if you're a teenage witch fanatic). You can go to a bookstore and by "The Teenage Witch Kit" that gives you a dinky little alter and some dinky little toys to "act" like you're doing magik. That really bugs me and what bugs me even more is the fact that I actually bought it *doh*. Like I said earlier: "The best and strongest spell is one you make yourself." that goes the same with an Alter and the tools you make with them. Everything in Wicca is supposed to be natural because we worship nature, the nature that the Goddess gave us. Of course you might not be able to get some things that aren't natural like salt, maybe, and other things which are kinda harder to find. I understand that because I know I had a lot of problems finding a lot of the things I needed but eventually I found a way. Ya know "Where there's a will there's a way".
