Chapter Seven

None of the boys had ever been to Canada before, so this would be a learing experience for all the guys. "Okay guys, you stay in the van until I get the rooms. Pick your roomates now so you can unpack. Oh and get some sleep because we have an appointment at 6:00 tomorrow to meet with the people involved with the gig at the dome." Lou said to the boys. While AJ and Howie looked at the beautiful Canadian women walking the streets, Kev and Brian began to chat.

"Well, I guess we should room together Bri since we know each other so well. Okay?" Kevin suggested. Brian felt bad about what he was going to say, but he needed to. "Well I was kinda hopin' I could room wit Nicky."

Kevin looked at Nick then back at Brian. "Well, if that’s what you want." Kevin replied.

AJ and Howie then joined the conversation and suggested that the three of them should share a double room with Kevin. He aggreed when Lou came back and they brought their things in.

All of them fell right to sleep as soon as they hit their pillows. It was around ten o'clock when Brian woke up. " Oh man. I slept all day." He then turned to Nick's bed. "Hey Nick. Nick."

Nick turned over in his sleep and moaned with exhaustion. "What?"

"You hungry man?" Brian asked as he got up to turn on the T.V.

"Starving Bri, absolutely starvin'." He said as he got up and watched T.V. They both didn’t say much until Nick asked, "Well what should we get?"

Both thought for a second and replied together. "Pizza!"

" I knew you were a good choice for a roomie." Nick said with laughter as Brian dialed room service. Rain was pooring outside and the wind was howling against the window.

" I am so full." Nick said as he fell on his bed.

"Me too. Me too." Brian added.

It was around eleven thirty and Nick and Brian were talking about anything and everything they could think of.

"Oh no! I gotta call my family." Brian cried as he leaped over to the phone. He dialed quickly in the hopes that they didn’t go to bed yet. "Hey mom it's me. I miss you too. Yeah its nice."

As Brian spoke with his parents, Nick got up and turned the T.V. off then put on his pajamas. They consisted of a white T-shirt and forest green boxers. "What?" Braian said as with surprise. "She did? No don’t. Maybe I'll call her. Okay. I love you too. Bye." Brian looked upset and shocked as he hung up the phone. He then got up and put his blue boxers on that said Kentucky on the waist band.

"Are you okay Bri?" Nick asked hesitantly. He waited for a reply, but there was none. "Bri?", he asked again. He was worried so he walked towards the bathroom and saw Brian sitting against the wall almost in tears. "Is something wrong? You know you can talk to me Bri."

Brian looked up at him with trusting eyes, knowing in his heart that he could tell his ne friend anything and he could trust him. "Well, you know that song I wrote?"

"You mean, 'That's What She Said'?" he answered. "The one we sang together the first time we met." He added. "Yeah. Well I wrote that about this girl I went out with for two years. We broke up 'cause of the band. Well actually, she broke it off with me."

Nick could see the hurt in his eyes. Now the song was stronger than ever and meant so much more to him. "What was her name?"

"Judy. She was my life for two years.", he said as he put both his hands on his face to cover it, then ran them through his hair. "She called my house last night."

"Why don’t you call her?" Nick asked.

"What does she want? I can't talk to her!"

Pain was written all over his face and Nick could see it. "Do you still…I mean did you…love her?", he asked in curiosity. "I know its probably not my place, but did you…ya know…sleep together?"

Brian looked at him shocked, but answered anyhow. "Yes I did love her and yes we made love."

There was a long silence as Nick's mouth dropped open in shock. "No wonder you two were so close."

"Yeah, I still love her, but I have to do this Nick. Ya know?", he explained.

"Maybe you should let things cool off before you talk to Judy.", Nick advised.

"Ya know what? You're right I need to move on. It'll be hard, but Backstreet's my life now!" He then got up and Nick stoop up with him. "Let me just say this little bro. Losing the love of my life was a painful loss, but look what I got in return?"

"What's that Bri?"

"Someone I can trust and hangout with. You."

Saying that, he hugged Nick. "You're like the little brother I never had."

Nick smiled and the two boys sat on their beds and watched ESPN until one thirty AM, then fell asleep. Nickolas Gene Carter and Brian Thomas Littrell had bonded that night and there relationship would never be the same. They were friends, best friends.
