"Beat you. I took you to the cleaners Nick." she shouted in reply.
The Arcade was packed since it was a Saturday night. They had been there for three hours and it was around five when they decided to go get some McDonalds. They went through the drive-thru so they could eat it at the park where they would watch B-rok play basketball. "Hey Mick!" Nick yelled to the stands as he and Danielle arrived.
The game was just about ready to start when the two of them sat down next to Michelle.
"So, what did you guys do today?" Dani whispered so that Nick couldn’t hear.
"Oh, we played some b-ball, had a catch, and ate lunch. Nothin' too special." she added.
Danielle wanted to know details, but she needed to get rid of Nick first. "Hey Nick, I'm really thirsty." she complained.
"Yeah so?" he aswered. "Just kidding. Coke right? Mick you want anything?"
She shook her head no then Nick left. As soon as he stepped down Dani turned back to Mick. "Now tell me what really happened."
Michelle looked at her in shock. "What are you talkin' about Dani? I can't believe you would even ask me that. You know how me and B-rok are.",she said in defense of herself.
"Exactly." Dani said as she shook her head.
"Let's just watch the game okay Dani?"
Just then Nick came back with the Coke and Dani gave him a hug."Thank you so much Nick." she exclaimed.
"Want some?" she asked offering the can to him.
"Yeah." he said not exactly meaning the Coke if you know what I mean. He wanted something, but it sure wasn’t the Coke.
It was Monday now so Dani and Mick had been hanging out with the boys since Friday night. Everyone was still sleeping when Nick knocked on the side door at eleven am. The door was unlocked so he walked in to find Michelle on the couch, but no sign of Danielle. He figured she was in Howie's bed so he knocked on the door. Danielle rolled over in the bed to face the door. "Yeah." she mumbled.
Nick slowly opened the door and stuck his head in alittle curious as to what he might find behind the door.
Danielle saw that it was Nick. Horrified she hid her head under the covers. Nick let out a little laugh and closed the door behind him. She was so embarrassed to be in pj's in front of him wit her hair in a bun and no bra to make matters worse.
"Don't be embarrased Dani.", Nick reassured her as he sat on the edge of the bed.
She took her head out and couldn’t take her eyes off of him. He was wearing a white T-shirt, addidas pants, and a white backwards baseball cap. He was too hot to look at."What are you doin' here? Get out. Come on!" she demanded.
"D, I just drove for fourty-five minutes. Can I just lay down for a while?",he asked then layed down beside her placing his hat in between them. Dani saw this and grabbed it to check it out. "Hey!"
"I like this hat.",she told him as he went to grab it from her. Both of them started wrestling for the hat on the bed until Nick sat on top of her and held her wrists down.
"Okay. You lose now give me back the hat fool." he demanded. As he went to grab it, the hat flew across the room and Nick's hand slipped lowering him closer to her face. Right then he wanted nothing more than to kiss her at that moment. He felt that she wanted it to, but how could he after what he put her through. Also he knew that if he stared he couldn’t stop so with all the strengh he had, he got up to pick up his hat off of the floor.
"I need a shower." she said as she threw the covers off and got out of bed.
Nick had never seen anything more cute in his life. "Nice shorts Dani." he said as he winked with a smile. "Thanks. B-Rok bought them for me and Mick."
Nick quickly stood up. "Oh, so he's buying stuff for you huh? So, is something going on between the two of you?" he asked.
"What? He's like eight years older than me!
Please." she said as she took her hair out of the bun to brush it.
Just then Nick walked over to her. "Let me brush your hair Dani.",he asked in excitement.
Danielle looked at him funny, but handed him the brush anyway. He began to stroke her hair and never in her life had brushing her hair been so thrilling.
"I love your hair Dani, its so soft." he said while placing one hand on her shoulder as the other brushed. "So, I guess your boyfriend back home does this for you all the time?", he asked just to see if she had someone.
"Actually, I don’t have one right now, but if I did he would.",she replied."Hey, let me brush your hair?",she asked as she stood up from the chair.
"Okay." he said.
Danielle began to brush then stepped back to look at it."So, it looks like you got some roots comin' in." Nick jumped closer to the mirror. "Do I?"
She started laughing knowing jus how to push his buttons. Dani knew that he loved his hair so that’s what she teased him on. Nick quickly grabbed her hip and pulled her on his lap tickling her. "Ya think you're so funny, huh?"
"Stop, I cant breath Nick!" she laughed.
"Hey guys whats up?" B-rok said standing in the doorway.
Both Nick and Dani jumped and stopped messing around.
"Thanks Bri, you saved my life from Mr. Tickle Monster over here." she said as Nick released her.
"I just came in to tell you that you could take your shower now 'cause Mick is done.",he said then walked out leaving the door open. He then walked into the living room to talk to Mick.
"Hey B-rok check this out. The Yanks won last night.",she said as he sat down beside her on the couch.
"So, tell me about your sister.",he said with the deepest concern.
"What about her?" she said while lowering the television set.
"Like how many men has she been with?"
"Like sexually or just been with?"
"Whatever." Brian replied waiting for the answer. Michelle looked at him with a frown. "Actually, none. She never had a boyfriend." she said in disapointment.
"Well Nick and her were getting' alittle too close for comfort in there a minute ago." Brian said with worry. "So, he could be her first boyfriend. Who cares?"
Brian smiled and laughed. "You don’t know Nicky like I do. He's a flirt I mean he's had a lot of girlfriends for a seventeen year old. He's practically wanted all over the world including the US now."
"Nick wouldn’t, do anything to hurt her would he?" she asked now taking the conversation alittle more seriously.
"No, but I feel that a girl's first time doing anything should be special and …well…maybe that's just me."
"It'll be okay if you talk to Nick. Will you Bri?",she asked in hope.
"I'm one step ahead of you Mick.",he said as he stood up and walked towards Howie's room. When he looked in, Nick was holding a picture frame in his hands. Nick saw him and motioned him to come in.
"Hey Frick, isnt Dani's dog Sparky cute?"
"Whats going on Frack?" Brian asked ignoring what Nick just asked him.
Nick looked up in confusion. "What do you mean?" "Is anything going on between you and Dani?",he asked bluntly.
Nick looked depressed. "No unfortunately."
"You'd tell me right?"
"Of course, you're my best friend." he reassured him.
Its just that she's so young Frack and I don’t think you understand how… I mean…a girl like her needs to be treated well…"
"What do you mean a girl like her?",he interupted in anger.
Brian realized what he had said and quickly turned it around so Nick would drop the subject. "Well with her being so young, you don’t know what she's ready for ya know?"
Nick was becoming angry at Brians asumptions and he didn’t appreciate the lecture either. "Look, she's my friend. Maybe I'm attracted to her, but that doesn’t mean I'm gonna go jump into bed with her. It really hurts me that your would think I could do that to her.",he said as he turned to walk out the door.
"Frack! You're right I'm sorry. I know your wouldn't do that, its just that I kinda consider you my little bro and Dani my little sis. I'm just lookin out for ya both. Okay?"
Nick looked back at his friend and smiled halfway then walked out the door with Brian a couple of steps behind him.
"Danielle no way!" Michelle yelled.
"What's wrong with it? I like it." she replied.
"That's not a dress, that’s half a dress!"
Danielle rolled her eyes as she turned around in anger bumping into Nick. "Hello." he said in shock.
Embarrased, Dani pulled away from his embrace. "I'm sorry I.."
Nick smiled. "Hey don’t be sorry. I just wanna know where the fire is?"
"Where ever Mick is." she said in anger than walked towards Howie's room.
"Hey Danielle why don’t you just wear your underwear instead!" Mick said running after her.
"Man, I hope she wears that if I…well…if I decide to, ya know, ask her out." said Nick.
"Do it man. I would just worry about your friendship, ya know?" Brian advised.
"Why do things have to be so hard. You're so lucky you and Mick don’t have these problems." said Nick as he walked towards the door.
What Nick had said Brian thought about for a while that day. He and Mick were really good friends and h enjoyed it, but what if it could be more. "We're talkin' about Mick here." he convinced himself. "Things couldn't change, could they?"
